Taipei, Taiwan – Research In Motion (RIM) (NASDAQ: RIMM; TSX: RIM) today announced the launch of the BlackBerry® Bold™ 9900 smartphone in Pure White for customers in Taiwan. The stunning new smartphone can be pre-ordered tomorrow from authorized partners in Taiwan with expected availability in mid-March. Early customers who pre-order the new handset will be eligible to receive a Jabra EASYGO White Bluetooth Headset* with their purchase.

The BlackBerry Bold 9900 is the thinnest BlackBerry® smartphone yet at only 10.5mm, and the first to offer the perfect union of a high performance keyboard and touch display integrated within the iconic BlackBerry Bold design. The new BlackBerry Bold 9900 is also the first BlackBerry smartphone to include built-in support for NFC (Near Field Communications), a new technology that is enabling many new and exciting capabilities, including the ability to make mobile payments, pair with NFC-enabled accessories or read SmartPoster tags with a simple tap of the smartphone.

It’s been a long time since the WordPress team released an update for the WordPress for BlackBerry app. According to a new post at the WordPress for BlackBerry Dev Blog, version 1.6 is now in the works as an app “refresh” that will support OS 6 and 7. Here are other improvements they have planned for this release:

• Option/setting for # of comments to download
• Infinite scrolling on posts/pages/comments
• Add Images Alignment options
• Integrate the WordPress.com Reader
• Add the ability to make a post sticky

There’s no mention of when they plan to release WordPress for BlackBerry version 1.6 but check back here since we’ll post when it’s available, or go to blackberry.wordpress.org for more info.
