That’s what I’m talking about RIM! Way to stick it to the iPhone. I’ve always said “the iPhone may have 16GB of memory, but BlackBerry has unlimited memory.” By this I meant that BlackBerry devices can change out their media cards, which really means an unlimited source of memory (in regards to media and such).

Now that is even moreso true. How awesome is that?!

BlackBerry Device Software Media Card Size Limit
BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.0 Up to 2 GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.1 Up to 4 GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.2 Up to 4 GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.3.0 Up to 8 GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.5.0
Up to 8 GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.5.0.81 and above Up to 16 GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.6.0 Up to 16 GB

The unit itself will accept the 16gb media card and recognize it, but if you fill that media card with music, the 4.5 Media Player will not be able to index all the files.

I am using this media card in my BlackBerry 8330 (with OS version 4.5.0.97) and have loaded music from 62 different artists (212 albums and 2398 songs - with a total file size of not even 12gb) and the BlackBerry Media Player fails to index all of the titles. Only by deleting a portion of the files will you be able to recognize the remainder of the missing files.

I'd say RIM still has plenty of work to do.
