BeMobileSanta.com – Give the Gift of Smartphone Apps

Now here is a nice way to spread some Christmas cheer!
The good people of Polar Mobile just let me know they have launched a “Be Mobile Santa” campaign.
The purpose of this campaign is to encourage consumers to send applications as holiday gifts to their friends, family and colleagues who own a BlackBerry, iPhone, or Windows Mobile smartphone.
You can choose applications from 6 categories including finance, sports, news, business, lifestyle and real estate. You can also customize a greeting card message to go along with it.
These are the applications I found listed:
- TheStreet.com Mobile
- The Hockey News Mobile
- Maclean’s Mobile
- RISMedia Mobile
- Canadian Living Mobile
- Canadian Business Mobile
Although this seems to be aimed more towards Canadians, with every gift you send, you and the person you send this to will be entered into a draw to win a BlackBerry Bold each. Nice!
This contest closes December 31, 2008.

Toronto, Ontario, Canada – Smartphone application development company Polar Mobile announced today the launch of their “Be Mobile Santa” campaign.
The aim of the campaign is to encourage consumers to send applications as holiday gifts to their friends, family and colleagues who own a BlackBerry, iPhone, or Windows Mobile smartphone.
Visitors to BeMobileSanta.com have the ability to select which apps they want to give – and can choose apps from 6 categories including: finance, sports, news, business, lifestyle and real estate. They can also customize a greeting card message to go along with it.
The recipient of the gift is sent an email with the sender’s greeting card message and the list of apps that they were recommended to install.
As an added bonus for sending a gift, the sender and recipient automatically qualify for a chance to win a BlackBerry Bold each. The contest closes December 31, 2008.
The free downloadable apps can deliver the latest stock quotes, sports scores, and articles to a user’s smartphone so they can stay up-to-date on the latest no matter where they are this holiday season. In addition, the apps provide a rich, easy to use, and extremely fast user experience.
“So many people are going to receive hallow smartphones this holiday season and we want to make sure that every single one is filled with the joy that only a mobile application can bring,” says Gaurav Jain, Vice-President of Business Development at Polar Mobile. “BlackBerrys, iPhones and Windows Mobile devices can’t go unfulfilled this holiday season. It’s up to us to look out for our friends and point them to the mobile apps that they’ll want to know and love.”
“Thanks to Apple, apps are already gaining a lot of consumer awareness. But nobody really knows that apps are also available for BlackBerry and Windows Mobile – our campaign aims to elevate that awareness.”
Polar Mobile hopes to capitalize on the slowing economy and decline in consumer spending by pushing the fact that their apps are completely free. All apps are supported by mobile advertising.
Polar Mobile plans to run banner campaigns on websites and as well as on their own applications to drive visitors to the site.
