Pongr Releases BlackBerry App for Public Beta – Always get the best price!

*UPDATE* Here are some photos of Pongr in action on my BlackBerry Curve 8900. I noticed that using the Barcode search results in more desirable prices, probably because it is more precise. Let me know if you try it out!

Just found out about a cool new BlackBerry application called Pongr. This application basically helps you find the best price available for a certain product, like books, movies, music, and video games, etc. This application is currently in public beta and is FREE!

The way it works is you take a photo of the product, email it to ping@pongr.com or send a text to SHOPP (74677), then Pongr will send back a list of the best prices and websites where you can purchase your item right to your BlackBerry. Nice!

Pongr’s price comparison application for BlackBerry has been released as a public beta and is available for download at: http://blackberry.pongr.com.

Boston, MA, February 04, 2009 –(PR.com)– Pongr announced today that it has released a public beta of the new Pongr application for BlackBerry® mobile phones. The Pongr app is a price comparison service for checking product prices with online stores. The app lets users search supported categories by product name and model, product UPC number, or by product picture. The picture search is currently limited to the books, movies, music, and video games categories. Pongr plans to expand the picture search in the future, but notes that some of the company’s advanced image search technology is highly experimental.

Pongr is continuing to broaden the scope of products that it can provide pricing information on and hopes the beta app release will allow users to sample the search experience, utilize the price comparison features for the products that are supported, and send feedback or bugs to Pongr’s development team. The application is available for free and can be downloaded by BlackBerry® users at: http://blackberry.pongr.com. Pongr recommends users visit the link from the browser on their BlackBerry® device.
