RIM has officially announced the BlackBerry App World, previously known as the “BlackBerry Application Storefront.”

The BlackBerry developers site will be updated tonight to reflect the changes and should be live by 10PM EST. RIM will also publish a page where you can sign up to receive  a notification that the BlackBerry App World is live. This link won’t work till tonight, so bookmark it for later!

According to CrackBerry Kevin, RIM plans on launching the BlackBerry App World before the end of March. We’ll just have to wait and see if RIM plans on keeping to the schedule with this one ;-) .

Any thoughts on “BlackBerry App World” as the official name?

The name seems pretty generic... but likable. Apparently RIM is touting an "Exciting Announcement" at 10 PM EST
