Since the last time I posted about BBFileScout there have been A LOT of fixes and additions that make this application even more awesome.

2009/03/20 – BBFileScout update to 0.5.7

What’s new?

  • Create Playlists from current directory content
    (this menu item is only available, if you have specified a ‘Playlist Directory’ in the options)

What’s fixed

  • Spelling correction in Font size chooser (’old man’)
  • [SHIFT]+NAV UP|DOWN: Select/Deselect multiple files should work now even if you scroll very fast (at least I hope so)
  • All popup windows should have now scroll bars if needed
  • Updated About-BBFileScout Dialog

2009/03/19 – BBFileScout update to 0.5.6

What’s new?

  • Add the current directory to your ‘favorite directory list’
  • From anywhere goto any of your favorite directories (from the list)
  • Options:
    • General Settings
      • Font Size ['small'|'medium'|'default'|'large'|'I am an old man'] (default: DEFAULT)
    • Key short cuts [main screen]:
        [G|H]:(G)oto favorites [open favorites Dialog (if defined)][SPACE]: Select/Deselect the current highlighted file and go to the next one [SHIFT]+NAV UP|DOWN: Select/Deselect multiple files
    • Key short cuts [favorite popup]:
        <[ENTER]: Open the selected favorite directory[DEL|Backspace]: (Del)ete selected favorite directory entry

        [ESC]: Cancel – close popup dialogue

    What’s fixed

    • Options: Browse for ‘Startup directory’ & Browse for ‘Playlist directory’ will now only show directories
    • An entered none existing ‘Startup directory’ will not cause BBFileScout to crash at statup

    What’s new?

    • Create Playlists across multiple folders [select in any folder your audio files (via Space-Key) and once you have marked all files select 'Create Playlist from ' from the menu] (this menu item is only available, if you have specified a ‘Playlist Directory’ in the options)

      • General Settings
        • Startup Directory (default EMPTY)
      • Media-Player Options
        • Playlist Directory (default EMPTY)
        • Clear selection after Playlist creation (default ON)

    Bugfix

    • Overwrite a file (copy or move) where the source and destination folder are identical will not destroy the file

    • additional options:
      • Default action when destination exist ['do nothing'|'rename file'|'overwrite destination'|'ask each time'] (default ‘do nothing’)

    • Auto rename/overwrite if a file already exist at the destination [of copy & move], this behavior is configurable via options
    • BBFileScout register itself as default content handler for ‘.INI’, ‘.LOG’ and ‘.XML’ files [This allows you to open this files e.g. from eMail attachments directly in the BBFileScout SimpleTextViewer/Editor] (experimental)

    Bugfix

    • Hopfully the app does not crash anymore, if a unreadable file will be opened in the SimpleTextViewer/Editor

    2009/03/11 – BBFileScout update to 0.5.1

    What’s new?

    • Complete new implementation of content handlers – BBFileScout now makes use of the (pre-)registered document handlers – when a app register itslf for a specify file extension BBFileScout now can read this association and launch the registered app [this implies, that installed PDF readers will now instantly work with BBFileScout]
    • additional options:
      • Use the BBFileScout build-in text viewer/editor (default ON)
      • Use the BBFileScout build-in ZIP handler (default ON)
      • Force BB media content handler for images, audio & video files (default OFF)
