Press Release

WATERLOO, ONTARIO — April 2, 2009 — ParkVu today launched i2b, the first application to let BlackBerry Bold, Curve, and Storm users remotely retrieve music from their iTunes library, allowing them to play the music they want to hear when they want to hear it, no matter where they are. i2b uses the cellular network and Wi-Fi connections to automatically keep users’ BlackBerrys up to date with their favorite iTunes playlists, top tracks, and most recent additions — and makes all their other playlists available on demand.

Starting today, i2b is available at geti2b.com for $2.99 a month.

“i2b finally makes music mobile,” said ParkVu co-founder Terry Goertz. “Until now, to get your music on your BlackBerry, you’d sit at your computer at home and connect it to your BlackBerry with a USB cable. You’d have to plan right then which songs you’d want to listen to, because once you were actually mobile you had no way to access your other music. Then you’d have to do it all over again whenever you wanted to add new tracks. That’s not the mobile experience BlackBerry users want and i2b changes all that.”

For users, the key benefits of i2b include:

  • Access to their iTunes library from anywhere i2b works wirelessly through the cellular network and Wi-Fi hotspots, so there’s no need for USB cables. Tracks can be moved to the user’s BlackBerry from anywhere with cellular coverage, freeing them to hear the music they want at anytime, anywhere.
  • Favorite playlists are automatically updated on the BlackBerry Users can select their 25 most played tracks and their most recent iTunes additions — and any other playlists — to be automatically kept up to date on their BlackBerry. They set it once and let i2b do all the work to make sure the music and podcasts they want are available when they want them.
  • Songs on their home computer can be retrieved even when it’s off. Up to 100 tracks (1GB maximum) from the i2b user’s iTunes library will be replicated to the Internet cloud, making them available from their BlackBerry even when their desktop or laptop is turned off. When their computer is on and connected to the Internet, all of their iTunes playlists are available on demand to their BlackBerry. Users can easily set i2b not to receive updates in areas where extra roaming charges would apply. i2b combines a BlackBerry application with a small application for the user’s home computer that works in the background with iTunes to allow users to replicate their playlists on their BlackBerry. i2b maintains any DRM restrictions and preserves the integrity of the user’s iTunes library.

The next release of i2b will also support BlackBerry Pearl and Pearl Flip devices. i2b is available at  http://geti2b.com/

Thanks for the profile of i2b. A few people have told us that the 1GB max was confusing. The 1GB limit was there ot put a ceiling on our infrastructure costs, however we realized that wasn’t in the best interest of our users. So, today we got rid of the 1GB max and boosted the plan to simply 200 tracks.

Existing subscribers accounts have already been upgraded to the 200 tracks.

We’ll also be offering an unlimited plan in the very near future.

    thanks again

What a great idea, what a pain…..but I'm not ready to give up, three days later. Not user friendly, but the developers seem eager to help.

This program is going to drive me to drink….One more day…and we'll see. Its really hard to deal with, says the the songs are downloaded, cant figure out how to play, not a full play list, connects some times, and a generally impossible program. I tried….very dissappointed :(
