@Pandora_Radio announced that their BlackBerry application is now compatible with the BlackBerry 8800 series, Curve 8900 and the Storm (previously available for the Bold, Pearl and Curve 8300 series).

From the description:

  • I don't know what to say about this app other than AMAZING. The interface is a clean port to the Storm, and on every phone I've used it on it has NEVER sapped the battery with streaming. I commute 3 hours a day, and it's on all the time without noticeable impact.

Pandora as a service is much simpler to use than Slacker, but doesn't offer the scalability. However, if you're persistent with a station and build it up on the desktop version, you'll get a station worth listening to on your blackberry. For this app to be taken as a serious contender, on device artist and song additions have to be included. Fortunately for Pandora, this feature is also lacking on Slacker.

The biggest downsides to Pandora include the load time, which is TERRIBLY slow when you start the app, and no offline content. Granted, Pandora never included this on the desktop, but with a big name like Slacker offering music offline, you can be assured of what I'm listening to when I'm in the subway, and Pandora is not the name.

Bottom line? Use it in conjunction with another music app. It's fantastic, but it doesn't quite stand on its own two feet just yet.
