blackberry onyx evaluation unit back BlackBerry Driftwood/Onyx coming to T Mobile USA in September?

Looks like it’s time for a fresh set of rumors  . BG heard from two independent sources that T-Mobile USA will be launching the 3G version of the Curve 8900 (rumored to be the Driftwood/Onyx, photo above via CrackBerry) around September of this year.

Right now whether it’s either the Driftwood or Onyx is still unclear. Here is a recap of this device’s features:

  • AWS 1700MHz + 2100MHz UMTS/HSDPA
  • 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera
  • GPS
  • Wi-Fi
  • QWERTY keyboard
  • Optical trackpad
  • 480×360 screen
  • Carbon fiber-esque back battery cover (the whole back is a carbon fiber pattern apparently)

According to BG, this device will be “Much sexier than the BlackBerry 8900.” If that’s true I might need to get myself one since I swear by my Curve 8900…

No official word on pricing but the rumor is that it will be around $199 with a new 2 year agreement.
