FREE! BBFileScout updated to v0.6.9 with new features and fixes

Matthias let me know that he has updated his BBFileScout application to version 0.6.9 with some new features and lots of bug fixes. BBFileScout works on any BlackBerry with OS 4.3 and above.

2009/05/22 – BBFileScout update to 0.6.9

What’s new?

• Hide and unhide files and directories via the File/Directory information popup
• Option ‘Show filenames in Menus’ – enables/disables the display of current selected file in the #Menu (default on)

What’s fixed?

• Fixed internal NullPointerException [when updating root]
• Options: it’s now possible the remove a previously specified playlist directory (in order to disable the complete playlist functionality of BBFileScout)

What’s fixed?

• Fixed NullPointerException when moving files
• File listing gets reloaded automatically when you toggle the option “show hidden files”

What’s new?

• Additional sort option ‘by Type’ (by file extension)
• Sort order will be indicated in the file list (behind the one directory up folder/above the file size)
• Sort type can be changed via key short cut [SHIFT]+[O]|[P]
• Sort order can be reversed via key short cut [SHIFT]+[U]|[I]

What’s fixed?

• Search will show again filenames & icons (was broken in 0.6.7)
• Fixed NullPointerException when opening an empty (0 byte) file in the BBFileScout Text Editor
• Possible internal exception handling improved (still long way to go)

What’s new?

• Specify the sort order of the directory content: by file name (files and directories will be separated), by file size (files and directories will be separated), by modification date
• Send content of plain text files (xml, ini, txt etc.) as SMS
• Copy & Move of large files (>500KiB) will show a progress bar

What’s fixed?

• Shortcut ‘L’ (create playlist) will not work as long as no playlist directory is defined in the options

What’s new?

• Enhanced Thumbnail handing & loading performance
• New Options:
  • Thumbnail scale factor (default 2x)This Choice is only enabled, if you have checked ‘Show Thumbnails for Images’.
    • 1x – The thumbnails will have the same height as the selected font
    • 2x – The thumbnails will have the double font height
    • 4x – The thumbnails will have the 4 times font height
  • Thumbnail-Store Directory (default EMPTY)You can configure BBFileScout that the calculated thumbnails will be stored permanently on your device (and does not need to be calculated each time you use BBFileScout). To enable this feature, you simply have to enter a valid path in which the thumbnail store should be created [the file is called BBFSThumbs.dat]. To disable this feature, simply leave this field empty which is the BBFileScout default setting.You can either manually type the path of your thumbnail store directory or you move the cursor into the text input field and press the #Menu Button of your device and select the menu item: Browse for ‘Thubnail-Store Directory’ .This Text input field ‘Thumbnail-Store Directory’ is only enabled, if you have checked ‘Show Thumbnails for Images’.

2009/04/22 – BBFileScout update to 0.6.5

What’s new?

• Thumbnail support for images (if enabled in BBFileScout options)
  BBFileScout is able to display a small (depending on the selected font site) preview of supported image files.
  Please note that this option could eat up a lot of performance of your device, if you open a directory that contain a large number of images that have a file size which is larger the 500KiB. In order to avoid serious performance problems the search result will not display thumbnails for images.
• BBFileScout will display a 128px preview of image files in the details dialog [Key shortcut: I] The thumbnail creation could take some moments – so please be a bit patient.
• Select your favorite folder icons
• When you have chosen ‘Ask each time’ in the ‘When destination exist’ option then it can become quite inconvenient when you will be prompted for plenty of files and you have to select each time the option of your choice. This have been improved: BBFileScout will now remember the first made choice and for the next time the dialog will be displayed the ‘OK’-Button is automatically focused.
