verizon blackberry tour with without camera Verizon BlackBerry Tour 9630 Available With And Without A Camera

Last night I posted about the Verizon BlackBerry Tour 9630 being available for pre-order.

This morning a buddy of mine let me know that Verizon actually has two versions of the Tour available. One with a camera and one without a camera!

It seems like the camera-less Tour 9630 will still be $199.99, the introductory price being offered to anyone who pre-orders the Tour with a new 2 year activation.

I asked a Verizon rep as to why this is and they just said “Not sure that’s just how Verizon has it set up.”

Check out both versions here or visit the Verizon Tour page at verizonwireless.com/tour.

What do you think about the camera-less version being the same price as the version with a camera?

The camera feature for most is benefit but for others it would be considered a disadvantage considering their line of work doesn't permit cameras on cell phones. Not everyone has a blackberry for social purposes but their business or job requires them to have one.

Verizon has business contracts like many other wireless providers I'm sure do, and the non camera blackberry is marketed more for the government based employees for example where cameras aren't permitted inside certain buildings and so forth. Other companys may have devices specific for these users/contracts but may only releases them through the business channels, others may not and businesses have to go directly through the manufacture which is more pricey. Verizon I'm sure released it for the regular consumer channel so people would have a choice. There's always that 1 in 10, I'm part of the majority myself but I had a couple family members that worked for the government and had to have a cell phone that didn't have the camera and the ability to record sounds (which looks like maybe that has changed since blackberrys have the voice notes feature). Anyways my uncle always said that he would pay extra if he could find a phone that DIDN'T have a camera so I believe thats why the price is the same.
