having trouble loading the new BBM onto my phone.

when i'm using desktop manager and the application loader, i click on the .alx file and for some reason, i get a pop-up that says “No additional applications designed for your phone were found”

i tried doing the ota download via my bold as well as zip on my computer. when i tried it on my computer it said my phone was not compatible and when i try the ota download on my phone i get an http error…can someone please help !! thanks !

i did the ota for the bold and the zip and i got an error for them both one was an http error the second was a compatibility issue…can you help please

ok…So is the ota for the 8900 working or not?? I tried to download and got the same errors as everyone and the disappearance of my BBM and the app is no compatible with my phone when i use desktop manager. I am livid right now, since i didnt do a backup since June…so I feel its only fair to communicate with everyone about this download that seems to be jacking up people 8900.

The downloads don't seem to be working. The person who was hosting them is working on it I think. None of those are my own downloads.

Try re-installing your device's operating system onto your computer.

When you plug it in it might ask you to update your OS, don't update it just hit cancel and then go into the application loader again.

ok, so after some intense search, i finally got the bbm 5.0 working on my 8830 WE!!! can we say love it?!? yes!!! thanks alot!

after you download the files, copy the first COD, and your language COD files from your subfolder to the main folder, then use DM to load the BBM to your device

Lost my BBM on 8330 for VZW. Tried reloading the new version 5 times and still getting no love. My app list on the computer and device say it is on there but it's nowhere to be found. Even tried going through SMS, options, instant message, and it's gone now.

Please be careful installing things and not backing up your phone. I just tried installing BBM 5.0 on my Bold and everything has deleted and the BBM didnt even install. Now I am stuck with a complete blanked out phone

I'm using a Sprint 8330 and I downloaded the links for Curve 8300 Series (OS 4.5.0.131+ ONLY) and I'm getting the message something like “application is not compatible with device and cannot be loaded.” I'm running 4.5.0.131 (platform 3.4.0.25). Any ideas why I'm getting this message?

Ok, after you extract the files from the .rar archive, you should have a folder with a '.alx' file in the folder along with a subfolder which is labeled 'For 4.x.x or 5.x.x' you now open that folder and locate only two files, the largest '.cod' file which is labeled 'net_rim_bb_qm_peer' along with your language '.cod' file, mine being english would be 'net_rim_bb_qm_peer_resource_en' you will know your language by the two or three last letters. After locating these files, you copy them and paste them in the file directory with the '.alx' file labeled 'BlackBerryMessenger' then you open Desktop Manager and connect your bb, go to Application Loader, then Add/Remove Applications and browse for the folder with the 'BlackBerryMessenger' '.alx' file and after a successful reboot, you have your BBM 5.0 and thats the most THOROUGH explanation i can give, hope it helps :^) enjoy!!

Can anyone confirm an OTA that works for 8900? The new updated links still don't work. Either they don't load or the download fails halfway through.

If the download is failing that means a lot of people are trying to download it at the same time. Keep trying with the last few OTA links I just added and you might get through .

Having WiFi enabled helps too.

the instructions should be the same for all device models, but i believe for it to work correctly on the curve 8900 you must upgrade to a leaked 5.0 OS version or else you will have problems

For the curve 8900 you will need to upgrade to a leaked 5.0 version OS inorder for the BBM 5.0 to work

when i download, it's halfway and then close its self. then the BBM icon is dissapear. no matter what i did, i cant make the icon back. i just got ur email said that the minimum requirement is V. 4.5.0.181, but when i download, i only see v.4.5 and above…mine is v.4.5.0.81 and i didn't know until everything is too late. can't use BBM for 24 hours even tho i try to download the older BBM version,can see on the application, but icon is missing. then i bring to the telcom provider and they put the BBM back, the older version of course, not the BBM 5.0

I successfully installed it OTA on my Storm (amazing) but am now trying to install it on my girlfriend's 8330 (4.5.0.160) using techniques described in http://blackberryrocks.com/how-to-install-appli... (she does not have a data plan) and am getting the same “907 invalid COD Unable to import ZIP file” error.

I'm on a mac so Desktop Manager is not an alternative here… wondering if anyone can point out a little trick that might get it to work? I'm downloading the .jad file and all .cod files listed in the .jad file and then putting them on her memory card in the same directory and launching the .jad file. The installation begins (but doesn't warn me that it's replacing any modules as it did on my Storm) and gets about 3/4 of the way through and then fails.

Any help would be appreciated… at this point I'm contemplating a virtual machine just for the sake of BlackBerry Messenger…

Hi guys, i tried out the new bbm 5.0 on my bold and it didn't work very well. Messages werent being sent through my friends so i decided to follow instructions about which indicated “If all else fails, reinstall your original BBM by connecting your BlackBerry to your PC and running the Application Loader in BlackBerry Desktop Manager” THIS ENDED UP DELETING MY BBM!!! how do i get my original bbm back!!!! PLEASE HELP!!!
