At the Fortune Brainstorm event in Pasadena, CA, Jason Wilk of TinyComb was able to talk to a RIM executive about some upcoming things for BlackBerry.
Besides admitting that the BlackBerry App World had a rough start, the RIM executive (who remains anonymous) mentioned the possibility of a BlackBerry with a front facing camera, essentially allowing video conferencing and better self portraits (haha).
When asked what RIM would do if the iPhone ended up getting a front facing camera, the RIM executive replied:
“as I said before, we are fortunate to have our relationships with many different carriers, some of which can handle something like live video-conferencing”
The RIM executive also finished the conversation by adding:
“video conferencing is something that could completely change the mobile landscape and it is something we have been thinking about and working on for quite some time. You will start seeing something early next year”
What do you guys think, is a front facing camera something you would be interested in?
