AT&T BlackBerry Bold 9700 Spotted In The Wild?

bold9700 1 AT&T BlackBerry Bold 9700 Spotted In The Wild?

We’ve seen a press image of a T-Mobile branded BlackBerry Bold 9700 and even some videos (most of them taken down), but we haven’t really seen any AT&T  Bold 9700 images.

A friend of mine sent me a link to some images that BBOS forums member bestncheap posted of what appears to be an AT&T Bold 9700. He (and a few others) thinks it is an AT&T Bold 9700, but I wasn’t too sure. Check out my observations below…

Why this might not be an AT&T Bold 9700:

  • This device does not seem to be physically branded with an AT&T logo
  • XL is an Indonesian wireless service provider to my knowledge (seen as carrier in photo)
  • the AT&T background could just be a wallpaper

Why this might be an AT&T Bold 9700:

  • bestncheap’s “friends” could have received the device before it was branded
  • the AT&T background

Does any of this matter? Not really. We already know that AT&T (and a few others) will be launching the BlackBerry Bold 9700 before the end of the year so it’s only a matter of time before we see a physically branded AT&T Bold 9700. Until then you can read up on this device by checking out the 9700 Archives.

Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments!

that's the beauty of indonesia, we indonesians always have the latest device on our hand before anyone else does, even when the item hasn't been officially released!

i recalled that we have had blackberry javelin since december 2008, months before it was released in US

oh, and yes, we have 3G network almost a year before US has it.
  • So do you think it's from AT&T or an Indonesian carrier (or that general location)?

in indonesia, cell providers don't offer any cellphone with their contract and most of the people there use prepaid cards as it's actually cheaper than contract. especially XL that offers free sms texting.

thus, in this case i believe this is a blackberry bold 9700 in indonesia, as BestNCheap is one of the largest, most up to date cellphone supplier there (who happen to have a similar logo with att), and 40% of BB users there uses XL as their provider.
  • Great insight! Thanks :).
