While catching up on some emails I came across one from Anagram Technologies letting me know about their new Copy2Contact application for BlackBerry. Formerly known as Anagram, and also formerly free since it was a beta, Copy2Contact allows you to save contact and calendar info from messages.

Features:

  • Works with emails, search results, text messages, and more
  • Eliminates tedious copy/paste and errors
  • Does not require a wireless connection
  • Updates existing contacts if a match is found
  • Advanced AI technology tuned for 8 years on real-world data
  • Also available for your PC for Outlook, Salesforce, NetSuite, and Palm Desktop. Please contact us or visit us online.

While Copy2Contact does seem useful, the main thing that annoys me about it is having to manually select text, copy the text, and then selecting Copy2Contact in the menu. While they compare themselves to gwabbit and seems to have more features (according to their comparison chart), gwabbit offers automatic scanning and contact creation. So I guess it would be a give and take and considering gwabbit’s upcoming features…you might have to think about it if you’re looking for a way to better handle creation of contacts.

Copy2Contact is available for a yearly subscription of $9.95 in the store and will work on all BlackBerry devices running OS 4.2 and higher. Both Copy2Contact and gwabbit offer free trials so if you try them out please let me know which one you stuck with in the comments!
