Yet Another BlackBerry Data Outage Hitting North America? [News]

No, it’s not just you. Less than a week after an earlier BlackBerry data outage another is affecting North American users.

I’ve gotten multiple reports that BlackBerry data services are either down or extremely slow. This outage seems to be serious enough that BBM is a trending topic on Twitter, but BBM isn’t the only application being affected by this outage. It looks like any apps that connect to the internet will have a hard time.

Emails are working without a problem so far. If you’re being affected by this outage let me know in the comments!

I’ll keep an eye on the “newswire” about this outage to see if RIM issues an official response.

    This is ridiculous. I am already getting tired of paying 30.00 a month for a data plan that doesn't seem to work half the time. I don't know if their infrastructure isn't able to handle as many BB's as are being sold or what but they need to figure this out or I will cease to be a BB user.

    have had no connection since around 3:00 mst. I can recieve and initiate voice and text. No internet connectivity, email or any social networking. In the last couple of hours have had intermittent 1X 1xev here in Denver, CO

    Verizon is confirmed. Called them to reboot the browser, they said they couldn't do it this time because it's Blackberry's problem.

    Confirmed service is affecting US, Canada & Mexico. I received confirmation from an associated in Brazil that he appears to be okay. I had 1xev earlier, now is 1XEV in US, but no service.

    Problems in the Chicagoland area too. Can't access the internet. E-mail was working. I'll have to test it again just to make sure.

    Orange County, California. No BBM, no data, data based app's not working. SMS and MMS works. Also friends in Miami having the same issue with T-Mobile Network. Also, Burbank, CA on Sprints Network.
    T-Mobile confirms the issue (DUHHH!) They give me a $5 day credit when issues like this arise. The reliability is really quite annoying for such a large company. Come on RIM, get your sh i t together.

    We operate a data center facility in Toronto Canada and all of our BES clients that operate servers that are colocated are all reporting that they have no data connectivity back to RIM.

    I am here in Connecticut and the outage started early this morning...12-22-09 at 3am. It started with BBM and about two hours ago took out email and text data as well.

    Even in Hawaii, Thought it was my phone, but I guess it isn't. Funny thing is the web works through t-mobile web2go but not through nay other browser (Bolt, BlackBerry Browser, etc.)

  • Down in Pittsburgh Pa. I've heard of the outages before but this is the first time it affected my storm.

  • I'm starting to think I"m single handedly crashing the BIS. Everytime I install a new OS on my Storm, it seems like BIS always crashes soon after. For example I just installed the .419 OS and my Browser and Email were both missing. I was assuming it's because it was a non-Verizon build, but from what I'm guessing now it's probably related to this BIS outage.

    I thought it was just me. I have just phone, texts, and email. I even deleted my bbm b/c i thought there was something wrong iwth it and now I can't get an internet connection at all to redownload it. I'm in WA, wondering if this is nation wide.
