RIM put together a quick demo video of the upcoming WebKit-enabled BlackBerry Browser and showed it off at Mobile World Congress. From the demo video you can see that the browser loads everything on the page real fast including JavaScript and AJAX elements which seamlessly pop in and out.

Part of the video shows the WebKit BlackBerry Browser scoring a perfect 100/100 on The Acid3 Test, a web standards compliance test. Just to give you an idea of how awesome that score is, I just took the test through my Firefox browser and scored a 93/100. The new browser will also support BlackBerry Widgets and JIL Widgets, as well as:

  • HTML 5
  • CSS3
  • DOM L3

It looks like RIM’s acquisition of Torch Mobile is going to pay off! So far rumors are pointing towards a spring or summer release but no official word on that yet.
