Earlier this month I mentioned T-Mobile discontinuing the BlackBerry Curve 8900 most likely in favor of the newer Curve 8520 and Bold 9700. It looks like Verizon may be pulling the same move according to an article on TheStreet.com:
Investors and analysts said there was speculation among traders about a report that indicated orders for the Storm were cut or cancelled. The name of the research shop that produced the note wasn’t immediately known.
Verizon (VZ Quote) is the biggest seller of the BlackBerry Storm and presumably the telco that would be most likely to reduce its supply.
RIM declined to comment, and Verizon did not have an immediate reply.
An earlier rumor mentioned by The Street said that the Magnum/Dakota and the Pearl/Striker/Stratus 9100 might be launching this Spring, so this could also be the reason for the Storm 9530′s possible discontinuation.
Does knowing your device might be discontinued bother any Storm 9530 owners?
