invisibleSHIELD for Blackberry Storm

I couldn't download OTA from my BB 8130 and it isn't listed as one of the supported devices above. It kept giving a system error. So I went to http://solutions.vzwshop.com/nfl and entered in my phone number and it sent me a text message. In the text message was a link to http://www.verizonwireless.com/nfl and that page, within the BB browser brought up (immediately) the download. It seemed to run fine on my BB 8130 though I didn't try the video. The app is slow and the UI awkward, but if folks want it, try the link in this post.

how do I remove the icon for NFL and Skype that have appeared on my Blackberry Storm???? I don't want these apps and the icon are cluttering my device.

  • caymen Paolo diceda

Yes! This appeared on my Storm also and the delete menu is disabled. Is this a virus? How to get this garbage off the device?

  • Steve Adams

Does anyone know how to delete the icon?

  • t0r

It's not just for “BlackBerry owning football aficionados”. It's pushed on everyone whether you want it or not. I will never use it yet it showed up on my phone, and according to their “user agreement” they can install any icon on your phone they want. It's ridiculous that you cannot delete it, only hide it. I probably wouldn't mind so much if the apps I actually wanted to use (like FB) actually worked properly.

  • Not an NFL fan

Found a website that indicated how to delete this app. Just did it and it works!

How to Delete Unwanted BlackBerry Bing, Slacker Radio Icons from Verizon Mobile

As previously noted, Verizon has been very obnoxiously spraying unwanted services and icons on my Blackberry desktop.

I am sure somewhere in the unreadable fine print we gave permission for this garbage, but that doesn’t make this any less obnoxious, and it doesn’t make Verizon any less of a giant telecom douchebag for doing this.

At the time we last mentioned this, the solution was to hide the icon. A better solution would be to leave Verizon, but for some of us (NYC), the alternatives are not better.

There seems to be a better solution, found by Ned — simply follow these steps:

    1. Go to Options (the wrench on my BlackBerry)
    2. Advanced options
    3. Service Book
    4. Select Bing or Slacker Radio, or whatever
    5. Left Click (Blackberry button)
    6. Delete

It was driving me nuts to try and get rid of this garbage- THANKS for the INCEDIBLE tip!!!

This is a good solution but those icons will always reappear should you need
    to resend your service books.

Hiding is the best solution. I would say put the icons you don't want in a
    folder and hide the folder.

I deleted the NFL app (YUCK!!!!) by installing it, basically pretending to install it, then at the last minute pressing the BB key and finally getting “delete application” option. Oh yes, I deleted it.

  • stef

AWESOME TIP NED!!!! I was so disgusted seeing the bing app, nfl app. Now it is gone!!! thank you

  • Donotwant

I wish Verizon would stop putting $h1t on my phone that I didn't ask for. So now I have to go through the install process just to get to the end and say, “No thanks?”

  • Yurmamabich

    you’re a homo if you do. NFL player=strong, rich; NFL fan=lazy, beer-drinking never-was

For BlackBerrys with updated OS software (2011), the steps to remove apps are:

    1. Go to Options (the wrench)
    2. Device
    3. Advanced System Settings
    4. Service Book
    5. Left click on unwanted app
    6. Delete

    • Gonic

I like the NFL but on this model blackberry it constantly runs and befor i know it the battery is dead.  I can’t afford the batteries it eats up

  • Xu Ye

I saw a new real time football apps is coming out soon, it’s called Yellowflag. It’s free and is the first mobile application dedicated to facilitate fan interaction in real-time for both the NCAA and NFL. Check it out http://rckp.st/HOid4
