Analyst Says BlackBerry Tablet To Have 1GHz Chip, Cameras For Video Conferencing – Launching Before End Of 2010?

It’s been a while since the rumored BlackBerry Tablet (or BlackPad) was directly mentioned. Last we heard of it the WSJ said it would rival the iPhone but others claim that since this device is to be a companion and not a stand-alone smartphone, this view is incorrect. According to a report by analyst Ashok Kumar, managing director at Rodman & Renshaw, the BlackBerry Table will be powered by a 1GHz processor and be 7-inches:

“Research In Motion (RIMM, Market Perform) is trying to pull forward the launch of the 7-inch touchscreen tablet from early next year to year end…with a marginal point of differentiation being the front- and back-facing cameras for videoconferencing,” he said in a research note Friday morning.

One possible chip candidate is the Marvell 1GHz Armada 610 processor, which is aimed at tablets, mobile Internet devices, and e-readers. The chip boasts full HD 1080p playback, 16-megapixel image captures, and advanced 3D graphics.

I can think of a few situations where using a companion tablet would have its advantages but I’m wondering if I’ll be fine with just the Bold 9800 slider since it has a bigger screen (than my 9700) and a keypad. What do you all think, still excited about the tablet? I think I need to see a leaked video preview Analyst Says BlackBerry Tablet To Have 1GHz Chip, Cameras For Video Conferencing Launching Before End Of 2010? .
