With the announcement of BlackBerry 6 and the AT&T Torch 9800, it’s no surprise other carriers are expressing their interest in RIM’s new offerings. Earlier today I spoke to a rep at RIM’s event and they confirmed that the Torch 9800 will ,unfortunately, be an exclusive for an undisclosed amount of time. I’m sure this makes many BlackBerry fans upset and I hope the exclusive period is a short one. Here’s the note T-Mobile USA sent me:
“T-Mobile is excited about the new innovations that our partners at RIM have brought to the table with the new BlackBerry 6 operating system,” said Jason Young, director, product management, T-Mobile USA. “We look forward to our continued partnership with RIM and future opportunities to support BlackBerry 6.”
From the above note you can clearly tell T-Mobile wants in on BlackBerry 6. I don’t blame them, it looks like it’s going to be awesome
. Thankfully it looks like RIM will be releasing the new OS for some currently available models including the Bold 9700, which T-Mobile has.
