Quick Guide: Block & Unblock Contacts Using BlackBerry Messenger

Sometimes when using BlackBerry Messenger and receiving an invitation or “friend request” we accidentally block the person. The other is also true, sometimes you want to block a contact and ignore future invites. Either way, thanks to a recently updated knowledge base article from RIM, we now have an official guide on how to block and unblock contacts in BBM. To block a contact in BlackBerry Messenger, complete the following steps:

1. Open BlackBerry Messenger.
2. Highlight the contact.
3. Display the menu.
4. Select Delete Contact.
5. Select the ignore future invites from this user check box.
6. Select Delete.

To unblock a contact in BlackBerry Messenger, complete the following steps:

1. Open BlackBerry Messenger.
2. Display the menu, and select Options.
3. Scroll to Ignored Contacts.
4. Select Edit.
5. Select the PIN of the user. This will put a check mark beside it.
6. Select OK.
   • Important: These steps are only available after a personal identification number (PIN) has been marked to ignore future invites.
