![]() | Leaked BES 5.0 SP3 Docs Mention OS 6.1, BlackBerry Protect, Wireless Security Updates, Amazon MP3 Player & More |
How’s that for a leak! Al Sacco over at CIO got his hands on some leaked documents for BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) 5.0 Service Pack 3 (SP3) and while it doesn’t sound like anything interesting at first, these docs actually mention some upcoming software updates, releases and terminations. Here’s a summary:
- BlackBerry MDS is now end-of-life
- BES no longer supports Microsoft SQL 2000
- A bunch of enhancements to media file downloads, BlackBerry Administration Service, messaging, and software updates through BES
- Enhancements to online help for BlackBerry Administration Service and Web Desktop Manager
- New IT policy rules – OS 6.1, Amazon MP3 and BlackBerry Shield (aka Protect) mentioned here (all coming soon?)
- Support for additional messaging servers, Microsoft Office 2010 attachments
- …and more!
There’s a bunch of other changes listed but those are the highlights I picked out, the most revealing being the list of new IT policy rules. Check out the rest of the BES 5.0 SP3 for IBM Lotus Domino docs below and let me know if you spot anything interesting!
