![]() | Kaufman Bros Analyst Says BlackBerry Torch Might Launch On Verizon Wireless Between January & March Of 2011 |
Back in July of this year, Kaufman Bros analyst Shaw Wu speculated that devices with RIM’s latest BlackBerry 6 OS will not come to CDMA networks until 2011. So far this has held true but since 2011 is around the corner, Wu is back with another speculation:
Kaufman Brothers analyst Shaw Wu this morning writes that his “checks” suggest that Research in Motion (RIMM) devices using the BlackBerry 6 operating system may soon be introduced at Verizon Communications’s (VZ) Verizon Wireless unit, sometime between January and March. Wu speculates it may be the BlackBerry Torch handheld, or a similar style of device.
That could help RIM stem the decline in its U.S. sales, Wu opines.
It’s been known that the Torch would be available as an exclusive from AT&T since its launch but everyone has wondered whether it will eventually be available on other networks. While this doesn’t confirm that the Torch is going to be launched by Verizon, it does go along with Wu’s earlier speculation that CDMA networks might launch devices with BlackBerry 6 in 2011. What do you think?
