RIM definitely jumped on this one. Just yesterday I mentioned Kaufman Bros analyst Shaw Wu’s claims that the BlackBerry PlayBook might be delayed due to battery issues. Today RIM released a statement shooting down any claims of delay due to poor battery life:
Any testing or observation of battery life to date by anyone outside of RIM would have been performed using pre-beta units that were built without power management implemented. RIM is on track with its schedule to optimize the BlackBerry PlayBook’s battery life and looks forward to providing customers with a professional grade tablet that offers superior performance with comparable battery life.
I’m glad RIM made it clear they’re still on schedule with the estimated PlayBook launch of Q1 2011. Now let’s just wait and see if it actually happens.
