![]() | Attention! WiFi Version Of BlackBerry PlayBook Tablet Still Launching In Q1, 4G Version Launching In Summer |
Apparently there’s been some confusion about when the BlackBerry PlayBook will launch so I thought I’d do a quick post to clarify some things.
The WiFi version of the PlayBook tablet is still on schedule for a Q1 launch before summer, the 4G version on Sprint will launch during the summer. That means there are two different versions of the PlayBook on track for a launch this year so if you though RIM’s announcement of the 4G version meant a delay, that’s not the case. Unfortunately some sites jumped to conclusions claiming the drop in RIM shares was due to the supposed “delay” of the PlayBook. These sites are incorrect. Here’s what RIM said in a statement to AllThingsD:
“The BlackBerry PlayBook is expected to begin shipping in the U.S. in Q1,” RIM said in an email statement.
And that’s that. If RIM shares did go down as a result of this delay rumor, hopefully they’ll jump back up.
