RIM today announced the BlackBerry News App for the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet, an extension of the News Feeds app for BlackBerry smartphones. Besides for the release of the News App for PlayBook, I also noticed that the News Feeds app for smartphones was updated to version 126.96.36.199. Release notes aren’t available but this update most likely included some integration for the PlayBook app. Here’s some info on the News Feeds app for smartphones:
With the BlackBerry® News Feeds app, all the content you care about comes right to you, hot off the press, and in one convenient place. The BlackBerry® News Feeds app also makes it really easy to discover great new content. The more you use it, the better it gets at suggesting the kinds of things you like to read, do and use. And when you find something you want to share, that’s a snap too, whether it’s by email, SMS or BBM™. The BlackBerry® News Feeds app: Let your news find you.
Here’s the description of the News App for PlayBook:
With the BlackBerry News app for PlayBook, discovering content and subscribing to new RSS feeds is simple. The app comes with pre-populated feeds from top news sites providing an easy way to access content from multiple providers on a variety of topics. With an optimized experience, and offline access to downloaded content, you’ll be able to stay up to date on the latest news wherever you are.
