BlackBerry Bridge Finally & Officially Available For AT&T Customers, Requires Tethering Plan For Bridge Browser
Here’s some bittersweet news for BlackBerry PlayBook owning AT&T customers who weren’t able to use BlackBerry Bridge. As I’m sure many of you know, AT&T blocked the Bridge app back in April claiming “they’re still testing it”. A lot of people (including myself) thought they blocked it because they wanted to get some money out of it since the Bridge app would allow free tethering and it looks like we were right. According to the fine print over at the Inside BlackBerry Blog post announcing the app’s availability, “AT&T users must have a tethering plan included with their wireless service plan to take advantage of the Bridge Browser.” How’s that for a fail? Not cool AT&T but I guess some features are better than none. I hope this doesn’t start a trend with other carriers and charging tethering fees for using the Bridge Browser. Feel free to vent in the comments, AT&T customers.
