BlackBerry App World 3.0 Beta Coming Soon, Over 1 Billion Apps Downloaded!

It’s official! Well, sort of. We’ve seen a few photos of what is rumored to BlackBerry App World 3.0 for BlackBerry smartphones but until today RIM hasn’t mentioned anything about an update to the app.  According to a blog post over at the Inside BlackBerry Blog, a beta for App World 3.0 is coming soon:

With BlackBerry App World™ 3.0 beta coming soon, I was thinking about the evolution of BlackBerry App World and how far we’ve come. The BlackBerry App World™ storefront launched a little over two years ago, and over that time, we’ve made many feature improvements, enhanced the look and feel, and added a ton of compelling apps. BlackBerry App World is now in over 100 countries, seeing an average of 3 million downloads per day, and we recently crossed the 1 billion app download milestone!

RIM goes on to mention some success stories for developers, apps and games like Bellshare GmbH, Doodle Blast, EA Games, PolarMobile and ScoreMobile. This blog post also confirms that they’ll be releasing a beta through the BlackBerry Beta Zone so if you want to be the first to try it be sure to sign up at blackberry.com/beta, otherwise keep an eye on BBRocks.com since we’ll let you know as soon as it’s available.
