People who are holding their breath in context of RIM’s strategies might be surprised to know that this time it is not the upcoming BB 10 devices that have gone awry but it is BB’s new Playbook. Yes, reading this may make you do a double take but the rumors regarding new Blackberry Playbook tablet have been doing rounds for quite some time now. Those who are really keen on knowing about this forthcoming BB Playbook tablet can have a glimpse on its images which have recently surfaced online.
Image of 10 inch BB tablet leaked on Tinhte (Vietnamese website), bears a striking resemblance with its former 7-inch tablet model. According to Mashable, the leaked image of this tablet is featuring a plain design in black color along with a large bezel and Blackberry logo at the bottom. The design is very eye-catching and is a certain plus for the Playbook.
There is a visible sign on the image which reads “BlackBerry 4G Playbook,” and the image also gives inkling that the upcoming BB 10 Playbook will be featuring a slot for the SIM card. It indicates that the forthcoming BB 10 Playbook, which is going to embrace 4G LTE technology, will ensure impeccable cell phone network connectivity to the end-users.
As far as other features of BlackBerry 4G Playbook are concerned, there are rumors that new Playbook will have a screen resolution of 1024*600p, 4800 mAh battery, a dual core processor which is clocked at 1.5GHz., 1 GB RAM, 2.0 Operating system, 3 mega pixel front camera and 5 megapixel rear camera capable of shooting high definition videos. However, there is still no clue regarding the price of this device.
Original Playbooks of Blackberry arrived in three different versions featuring 16GB, 32 GB and 64 GB version. Surprisingly, 10 inch long BB 4G LTE Playbook version will arrive only in a single version comprising 32 GB, if reports are to be believed.
It is being speculated that this unreleased tablet will land in market in the third quarter of year 2012. All these wild guesses may go wrong given the fact that if the release of much-awaited BB 10 models can be delayed then the same may happen in case of BB’s upcoming Playbook as well.
It is obvious that since BB 10 is standing first in the queue to hit the market, BB is focusing completely on it. RIM, however, being a big company, understands that keeping all eggs in the same basket is never a good plan. So, there is a strong possibility that RIM is working on a back up option and Blackberry 4G LTE Playbook is most probably that option.
Nevertheless, until RIM confirms that it is really toying with an idea to roll out the new 10 inch long Playbook, somewhere near around third quarter of 2012, nothing can put the rumors to end.
RIM is optimistic about its upcoming products whether it’s the upcoming BB 10 smart phones or 10 inch long BB Playbook. And this time it is not just dragging its feet!
