RIM is losing its market share at a fast pace and hanging on by its fingernails, hoping that after the launch of BB 10 platform, things will turn around. But here we will not debate on that, instead, let’s see how is RIM doing in overhauling its present models. Since there is a long time before the launch of BB10, it has to work on its older models to make sure it has something going on.

RIM recently revamped its old smartphone Curve 9320 and introduced this updated model as Blackberry Curve 9320.

Blackberry Enters Beginners Smartphone Market According to Hastings Singh (MD, RIM South Asia), this new smartphone will prove to be a great option for first-time buyers of such phones and also for users of Curve smartphone who want to experience better speed and performance.

He further added that the newly launched upgraded version of Blackberry Curve 9320 is capable of offering incredible user experience along with exclusive benefits related to social networking.

Due to the integration of an application called ‘Social Feeds 2.0′ in new Blackberry Curve, it is now possible for users to post content to several social networking websites. This new app facilitates live updates and RSS feed subscriptions too.

BB Curve model has RIM’s new OS 7.1 that includes ‘Mobile Hotspot’. This feature will allow users to connect to 5 diverse electronic devices and users will also be capable of making use of their units as Wi-Fi hotspot.

However, specifications of this new smartphone may lag behind other latest smartphones, which feature amazing touch-screens, multi-core processors and incredible graphics chips. With this new BB Curve model, things are somewhat different, as it incorporates modest specifications such as its battery life, which can last for days without charging.

The new BB Curve features an LCD display of 2.4-inch along with 320×240 screen resolution. It has a low resolution but the text and web-pages do not appear as blurred.

There is also an expandable microSD memory slot that allows up to 32 GB of memory. This model has QWERTY keyboard in which 35 keys are set in a smooth fashion and are pretty well-spaced. As far as comfort in typing is concerned, these keys can’t be compared with keys of larger BB bold models.

This new Curve model also features a BBM button which leads you to the BB Messenger app in a single button press.

It has 3.2-mega pix camera with flash, advanced depth of field technology, and image stabilization, which results in better and clearer shots. This smartphone also boasts of wireless B/G/N capability, Bluetooth 2.1 and HSDPA.

With its technical capabilities and focus on social media, Blackberry 9320 and 9220 are geared for the youngsters, particularly college-going crowd and teenagers who are mostly on the lookout for economical smartphones and at the same time want to remain connected with their friends, through-out the day.
