BB Bold 9730 Leak Gaffe Being Covered Up as a ‘Typo Gone Viral’

When it comes to spilling the beans about unreleased devices, almost all leading tech-firms hesitate and remain tight-lipped until the time of launch. Nothing compares to the charm of a surprise that catches people off guard. But due to present day technology, device leaks and specifications leaks have become a common and ongoing thing.

Needless to say, sometimes these leaks, whether they are about image of device or about specifications of an unreleased product, raise hackles of leading tech firms. Getting first glimpse of an unreleased phone from some popular phone maker or getting firsthand information about its features or specifications has become a fanatical trend among the ardent fans of technology. When the source of a leak is an outsider, tech firms have no option but to fume over it.

Well, RIM experienced this lately and it confessed about a leak of BB Bold 9730, referred to it as a “typo gone viral”.

This leak surfaced on Vendor Portal of RIM’s App World and appearance of Blackberry Bold 9730 took viewers by surprise. Nevertheless, this reference was removed later on.

This model was displayed besides other 9 BB Bold devices that currently exist in the market. The most interesting and strange part of the whole story is that on this particular website, there was no info available about BB Bold 9730′s specifications, features, and release date, etc.

However, this is not the first time when RIM has encountered premature leak of a BB device. In this case though, RIM has denied existence of BB Bold 9730 model.

It is believed that N4BB, a BB tech-portal was the first one to spot BB Bold 9730 leak. The moment RIM came to realize about its blunder, it contacted N4BB and mentioned that this listing was kind of an accidental fault. Reports are also hinting that the source of this unintentional leak could be a new intern from RIM’s Ontario headquarters.

RIM also got in touch with Engadget and clarified that it was a listing intended for BlackBerry Curve 9370 and it is just a typing mistake. TechRadar has verified that RIM’s statement is true.

N4BB is also speculating that the surfaced smart phone may be a Bold 9790 CDMA version and if that happens to be true, then this phone will be finding a place for itself among cream of the crop BB smart phone models.

It is a well known fact that BB Bold 9790 and BB bold 9900 did create a place for themselves among top list of TechRadar for Blackberry phones. Besides that, TechRadar also listed BB Bold 9900 among the 15th best cell phones in the entire world, till date.

Well, the statement by RIM has already been verified by few leading technology based sites but it appears as if this is not enough to put complete end to the rumors. Whatever the case is, inevitably truth will be out in due course of time.
