Will Windows Phone Outperform Blackberry?

Since all mobile phone manufacturers are vying for the top position, the fight is getting interesting. All four major mobile companies are scampering for the top most position. If we take a glance on the detailed picture, Apple and Android are fighting for the first position, while Microsoft and RIM are fighting for the third. Android has almost become synonymous with Samsung, and it is enjoying its share of success, understanding that if it doesn’t secure the first position, the second one most definitely belongs to it. For the third position, Microsoft and RIM are having a competition, and there is also a fifth firm that is raising its head in the competition. Yes, let’s not forget about Nokia.

Nokia’s charm is unquestionably fading away so let’s keep it safely on the fifth position. Though RIM’s forthcoming BB 10 smartphones have been a subject of hot discussion, but it is the Windows Phone that might end up in snatching away limelight from Blackberry.

Will Windows Phone Outperform Blackberry? According to an analysis conducted by StatCounter (an analysis site for Web traffic), the possibility of Windows emerging over Blackberry is very strong. StatCounter took into consideration the percentage of cellphone users who access the web through different mobile OS, and it came to conclude that number of users using Windows phone will be more than number of users using Blackberry phone by November end. A site called wmpoweruser.com summarized the analyzed data into a chart.

StatCounter also revealed that usage of web on BB smartphones has toppled down by 50% this year while there is a minor increase in the percentage of web usage on MS Windows Phone. Earlier it was 1% and currently it accounts for 1.5%. Hence StatCounter opined that ultimately it would be Windows phone which will outshine Blackberry. However, the data analyzed by StatCounter includes those users who connect to the web through mobile phones; hence it should not be mistaken for entire market share.

Will Windows Phone Outperform Blackberry? If we glance at the market share of BB OS and Windows Phone in the U.S., then both have been witnessing a drop. comScore, a market tracker came up with statistical figures which indicate that BB OS market share in U.S. currently accounts for 10.7% while market share of Windows Phone accounts for 3.8%. This shows that Blackberry is on a stronger position than Windows phone. But as StatCounter’s figures show, most people prefer using a Windows phone than a Blackberry to surf the web.

There are no qualms that the quality of the apps which are available in the App World of Blackberry is not up to the mark and that’s the reason why users refrain from using web on their BB smartphones. It is not just a better web usage experience where Microsoft takes the lead but there are other factors as well which work in favor of Microsoft. For instance, the growing popularity of Windows Phone, huge financial support, and an association with Nokia work well for it. But as for now, it seems that Blackberry will take the number 3 position.
