Vonage let me know that they have released a mobile calling application for BlackBerry devices.
“Our new mobile app is an important step in establishing Vonage as a software technology company that enables high-quality voice and messaging across any device in any location, providing great value over any broadband network,” said Marc Lefar, CEO of Vonage.
Features:
Make low-cost international calls
Call any landline or mobile phone worldwide at incredibly low rates. International calling is inexpensive with Vonage Mobile for the BlackBerry®.
Works on cellular
No matter where you are in the U.S., if you have cellular service, you can use Vonage Mobile for low-cost international calling. (Carrier roaming charges may apply when outside your calling area)
Easy to install
Click on “Free Download” on this page and enter your phone number when prompted. We’ll send you an SMS (text message) with a link to download Vonage Mobile. Just follow the simple steps on your device to install. We’ll even give you a credit to make your first international call. (Standard text messaging rates may apply)

MLH Software let me know about a new beta BlackBerry application and desktop software they are working on called Blurts.
If you are like us, you sit in front of a PC most of the day with a BlackBerry in your pocket. Every time it rings you have to dig it out just to see who is calling, and you think to yourself, wouldn’t it be nice if the caller ID just popped up on my computer screen so I could see who is calling before going through the trouble to dig it out of my pocket?
Well that is exactly what Blurts is designed to do. A desktop app and a BlackBerry app talk via Bluetooth to display caller ID info and more.
I’m being told that this software might be available in two versions: a free version that will allow you to view alerts and a pro version with more features that will allow you to interact with those alerts (and more).
Here is a list of devices this software is available for (OS 4.2 and higher):
BlackBerry Tour 9630
BlackBerry Bold 9000 smartphone
BlackBerry Storm smartphone
BlackBerry Pearl Flip Series
BlackBerry Curve 8300 Series
BlackBerry Curve 8900 smartphone
BlackBerry 8800 Series
BlackBerry Pearl Series
In order to use the desktop software your PC must be Bluetooth enabled whether it’s internal or through a Bluetooth dongle/adapter. If you’re interested in becoming a beta tester send an email to beta@mlhsoftware.com and check out the product page for more info.
Are you a developer looking to get your application tested? Send an email to info@blackberryrocks.com with details!

@FabianMH let me know about a new and free app he released called LaterFlag.
LaterFlag is an application that let’s you flag your emails.
You can either flag it as high priority or low priority or just leave it normal! Through this you won’t forget if you already have replied to emails or not. It’s free, you’re gonna love it!
Select a Message and click the Menu and then Flag Mail. If you click the Menu a few times it toggles between the Flags. There is no icon for the app, it’s just on your device in the Messages Menu.
It’s so simple yet it’s a very useful application that I’m sure many of you will appreciate.

I came across this app in the store called DriveSafe.ly that is supposed to help increase your driving safety by reading your text and email messages out loud, in real-time so you don’t have to look at your BlackBerry while driving. Apps like these are very useful, especially since using a mobile phone while driving is against the law in many regions.
In some cases you don’t even need to be driving to use these apps. You can use them if you have your hands full or just don’t feel like reading .
Features:
It is free to use DriveSafe.ly
Automatically plays incoming text SMS and email messages
Play messages on demand through menu
No complicated software to install easy to use
Small footprint lightweight app does not slow down your phone
Customizable auto-response and timeout duration
Human sounding text to speech powered by iSpeech.org
DriveSafe.ly is available as a free download in the store and will work with all BlackBerry devices running OS 4.5 and higher. If you give this app a try and feel it helped you while driving (or during other activities) let me know in the comments!

A few days ago I posted about the Laterdude Pro Beta and it looks like you guys did a good job of helping because it didn’t take long for Fabian Heuwieser to push out the new version.
Just a reminder of what LaterDude Pro is about:
LaterDude Pro is an application that reminds you to call, SMS or email someone. The efficiency of it is that it interacts with the system and creates a new event into the internal calendar or task application.
Version 2.2.51 adds the following features:
English, Dutch, German, Italian, Spanish, Romanian and French Translation
Application has an icon (found in the Downloads folder) for easier access to the Options
Option if the Menu should be displayed in the whole system or only in the specific apps
Free Trial available
Select if you want to save the new event as Calendar, Task or be prompted
Option to set as what you want to preselect the new entry (Call, Contact, Meet, SMS or eMail)
Time and Date can be set from the pre-set buttons and also manually
Free upgrade for previous users
Many bugs fixed
LaterDude Pro is available in the store for $2.22 until tomorrow at 12AM ET, after that it goes up to $2.95. This application will work on devices running OS 4.5 and higher (including 5.0).

@cipriani15 let me know about a new BlackBerry application he just released called Textender.
Textender basically extends the SMS character limit beyond the standard 140/160, allowing you to send longer SMS messages at once. This app will work for BlackBerry devices on CDMA networks including Verizon, Sprint, Alltel, U.S. Cellular, Bell, Telus, Cricket, and MetroPCS.
Features:
Send messages beyond 140/160 characters
Send to up to 6 recipients at any given time
Can be accessed while composing a text/sms
Stand alone app which can be assigned to a convenience key
Displays a message count so the user is aware how many messages they are sending
Sent messages will be saved as one whole message in native message app on the BlackBerry
**Please Note: Your carrier will still charge you for the total number of messages sent, not for one message each time Textender is used**
Textender is available for $1.49 until October 31st, after that it will go up to $2.99. This app will work on all BlackBerry devices running OS 4.5 and higher.
CONTEST: I have 25 free copies of Textender to give away! Simply leave a comment on this post before Friday October 2nd at 12AM ET for a chance to win a copy. Good luck! *
