Today RIM let me know they’ve made this accessory official with pre-ordering available from Shop BlackBerry for everyone, or from The Source in Canada. It’s always nice to have options when it comes to…well, everything. This morning I let you know that Case-Mate is now offering accessories for the BlackBerry Bold 9900 series but if those didn’t piqué your interest, OtterBox is now also offering accessories for BlackBerry 7 smartphones. They recently announced their Impact, Commuter and Defender series cases are now available for the Bold 9900 and Bold 9930 with the Commuter series available for the Torch 9810. Today is Memorial Day so I’m sure many of you living in the United States are either at the beach, barbecuing, doing some shopping or just reading BBRocks! . The OtterBox team yesterday reminded me that they’re an official member of the Built for BlackBerry program started by RIM in January. I say reminded because RIM did mention Otterbox as a current member. The reason for OtterBox’s release is probably to put some spotlight on their new OtterBox Defender Series case for the BlackBerry PlayBook, which will be an approved Built for BlackBerry product. The case looks rugged and even includes a built-in stand. Pretty cool. I’m sure I’ll run into OtterBox at BlackBerry World next week so stay tuned for some live photos of their PlayBook products!

Now that the BlackBerry Mini Bluetooth Keyboard is out in the open thanks to the leaked sales associate retail training, I figured I’d go ahead and post a bigger photo of it. This keyboard is meant for the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet and according to someone I spoke with, the product in the photo above is not the final version. If you look at the photo you’ll notice a bar with a darker square near the bottom right of the keyboard. This is the mousepad and in the final version, it will be centered at the bottom of the keyboard like a regular laptop mousepad. The Mini Bluetooth Keyboard is also deceptively light so it won’t add that much weight when carrying it with the PlayBook.

RIM is also working on campatible accessories for this keyboard. One of them will be a case that allows you to attach the BlackBerry PlayBook on one side and the keyboard on the other so all you have to do is open the case, prop it up and start typing/touching away. According to BGR, a website known as Fommy has supposedly leaked some internal slides that include details for BlackBerry PlayBook OEM accessories. We’ve already seen a few of the PlayBook’s accessories but these slides include info for a bunch more as well as pricing and availability dates. Since we’re not sure how solid this leak is, as with all leaks, nothing is official till RIM says it is.
