A few weeks ago I let you know about RIM’s BBM Challenge contest where a few lucky fans would have the chance to become a protege for celebrities including Whitney Port, Michelle Trachtenberg, Jared Eng, Lauren Berer, Greyson Chance and Hope Solo. Today they let me know they’ve selected 150 “Protégés” from the United States and Canada in the first challenge, called Perspective. Here’s the breakdown:

• Whitney Port, Fashion – Protégés are going to hit the streets with their BlackBerry® smartphones to document all the hottest trends they spot around town by using the camera or taking video.
• Michelle Trachtenberg, Film –Protégés and their teams will need to get on their BlackBerry® smartphones to get everyone together to watch a movie that’s been remade. After the viewing, they’ll need to record a discussion with friends about why they thought the re-created movie was better or worse than the original.
• Jared Eng, Pop Culture – Protégés will demonstrate what they’re made of when it comes to pop culture. Planking, yarn bombing…what will they think of next? They need to make videos using their BlackBerry® smartphone of the current pop culture obsessions and showing the world just why they’re so into it.
• Lauren Berger, Entrepreneurship - Protégés are going to do some research using their BlackBerry® smartphones on companies that have made green improvements. Then, they’ll need to come up with a business idea of their own that would help a business go green.
• Greyson Chance, Music - Protégés will list their dream BBM™ Music playlists on Facebook® or Twitter® to see how many of their friends are feeling it!
• Hope Solo, Sports – Protégés will show a fresh perspective on a training regimen for any sport they like. With their BlackBerry® smartphones, they can schedule training times with the calendar app and use the video recorder to film the regimen in HD!

RIM is running a new BBM challenge contest called BBM Generation where the winners will be able to meet one of six celebrity “BBM Challenge Council Members” including Whitney Port, Michelle Trachtenberg, Jared Eng, Lauren Berer, Greyson Chance and Hope Solo. Besides for being flown to meet your idol in person, the winner also gets to join the celebrity’s private BBM group and a new BlackBerry smartphone. In order to win you have to submit a video or photo-essay about why you want to be a Protégé of one of the above mentioned celebrities.

Along with officially releasing BlackBerry Messenger 6 the BlackBerry Partners Fund announced a new competition for the 2011 BlackBerry Developers Challenge. The new competition is for the “Most Addictive Social App Using The BBM Social Platform” which is also the title that will be given to the winning app for this year’s contest. With a bunch of BBM 6 connected apps and games already being available, it should interesting to see even more apps get released with BBM Social Platform integration and submitted to the contest.

Yesterday I let you know that RIM might be making a few announcements tonight about some upcoming BlackBerry 7 devices. What I thought was just going to be announcements is now also a contest that will last a few days where entrants will have the chance to win a BlackBerry 7 device and tickets to attend an event in Toronto. Here are some details from the contest page:

• How to enter:
  To enter, visit http://twitter.com/blackberry (“BlackBerry Twitter Page”) and become a follower of @BlackBerry. To Enter, tweet a fun message from your Twitter account including 7 words that describe how BlackBerry helps you get things done on the go, or how BlackBerry helps you collaborate or socialize with others (“Entry”). You must include the hashtag “#BB7FanNight” in your message.
• The prizes:
  There are forty (40) prize packs available to be won (each a “Prize”).
