@Salomondrin is on a roll with these videos!

In this video Sal does an internet browsing speed comparison between the BlackBerry Bold 9700’s WiFi and 3G capabilities.

The 9700 on the left is using AT&T 3G while the one on the right is using WiFi. At first it looked like WiFi was winning but 3G catches up and appears to have beaten it, but it was a really close race.

Watch the video and tell me which one you think won in the comments!

@Salomondrin put together part 2 of his Storm 2 (Odin) typing video. Sal says to keep the following in mind while watching the video:

“I’m not hitting the right keys, but the phone knows exactly what I’m trying to type, which makes typing on it a breeze”.

How many of you reacted with “NO WAY!”? Especially you Storm 1 owners  .

Check out Sal’s 9700 video here (which he mentions at the end of this one). Keep ‘em coming Sal!

@Salomondrin has put together another video of the BlackBerry Bold 9700 (aka Onyx), this time going over a few different things about it. Here’s what Sal goes over:

  • “Bold” branding across the back
  • Exterior features and buttons
  • Side-by-side comparison of the with the Bold 9000
  • Media card location
  • Trackpad is “heavenly” compared to Trackball
  • It’s really fast, running on one of the latest versions of OS 5.0
  • Browser is especially fast (video coming soon)
  • BlackBerry Messenger is still version 4.7
  • Media playback (audio and video)
  • Ringtones (the usual)
  • Pictures
  • Applications
  • Downloads comes pre-loaded with with apps and games like Tetris and PacMan
  • Profiles (new layout)
  • Make-UR-Tones (make your own ringtones?!)
  • 130MB of free app memory

AWESOME. So it looks like the Onyx will definitely be launching soon, hopefully in November, but definitely before the end of the year.

@salomondrin put together the video above of himself typing on the upcoming BlackBerry Storm 2 (Odin). It’s only a 36 second video but be prepared to be amazed at his speed and the Storm 2’s accuracy/lack of error!

In this second video @wongalex compares the BlackBerry Bold 9700 (Onyx) Trackpad, sound/speaker, size and typing with that of the Bold 9000 and Curve 8900.

Great way to end the weekend! I personally can’t wait for the Onyx to at least get an official acknowledgment from RIM regarding its release. An actual release would be even better :-D .

Video: BlackBerry Storm 2 vs Storm 1 – 5 Reasons To Get The Storm 2

@salomondrin has created yet another video, this time doing a comparison between the BlackBerry Storm 2 (9520) and Storm 1 (9530) in addition to giving us his 5 reasons why you should get the Storm 2.

  1. Storm 2 is to Storm 1 as Angelina Jolie is to Catherine Zeta Jones (TODAY)
  2. Storm 2 has WiFi, Storm 1 does not
  3. Storm 1 has 54 MB of application memory and 879.2 MB of total device memory; Storm 2 has 138.9 MB of application memory and 1.8 GB of total device memory
  4. Texting, keyboard and screen is better on Storm 2
  5. Storm 2 is faster
  6. (Surprise!) Storm 2 has a better camera

Pretty awesome. Even the sound the Storm 2 makes while typing seems better.

Who’s planning on getting a Storm 2 once it’s available?

Video Of The BlackBerry Storm 9550 (Codename Odin) In Action!

CrackBerry Kevin was able to get his hands on the BlackBerry Storm 9550 and made a great preview video!

Here is what Kevin mentioned in the video about this Storm 9550:

  • It has early software, will improve for final release
  • The screen doesn’t really click when it is off, but when it is on it does seem to click
  • Storm 9550 codename is the Odin
  • It is running on the Rogers network with 3G and CDMA
  • It is running OS v5.1.0.9
  • 256MB of device memory, media card used in video is 16GB
  • FINAL STORM 9550 WILL DEFINITELY HAVE WIFI
  • Sleeker design with the battery door being much more integrated with the design
  • Typing on the Storm 9550 seems to be better than typing on the Storm 9530
  • New BlackBerry Messenger Included
  • Nice hardware improvement, especially over the first Storm
  • Mentions the Odin being released as the 9520/9550 which will hopefully launch sometime in October or November

That’s pretty much it but you can watch the video for yourself just in case I missed something. I have to say, the Odin definitely looks a lot better than the original Storm. I’ve always been a big fan of the physical BlackBerry QWERTY keypad but the Odin looks like it will work nicely without one.

If you already have a Storm 9530, will you drop it to get the Odin? Let me know what you think!

BlackBerry Gemini (Curve) 8520 Features and Specifications now available!

blackberry curve 8520 5 300x225 BlackBerry Gemini (Curve) 8520 Features and Specifications now available!

CrackBerry Kevin was able to get a full chart of the BlackBerry Curve 8520’s features and specifications.

I’d really like to know what everyone else thinks of the Curve 8520 so far. I think the TrackPad (optical trackball) is a very cool idea, but just that and media keys being on the top doesn’t cause too much excitement for me. It will have Wi-Fi, but no GPS and a flashless camera that’s 2MP (compared to 3.2MP Curve 8900 camera).

What do you think? Check out the full features and specs chart after the jump.
