Official FBI File: Steve Jobs “Will Twist The Truth And Distort Reality In Order To Achieve His Goals”
Remember back in October 2010 when Steve Jobs called out competitors and former RIM Co-CEO Jim Balsillie responded? Steve was basically trying to shift focus from Apple’s failures to his competitors saying he doesn’t believe RIM or Google would catch up with 7-inch tablets, to which former RIM co-CEO Jim Balsillie replied:
For those of us who live outside of Apple’s distortion field, we know that 7” tablets will actually be a big portion of the market…
The reason I’m bringing this up is because the FBI recently released a file where they did a background on Steve Jobs after a bomb threat. As reported by Bloomberg:
“Several individuals questioned Mr. Jobs’ honesty stating that Mr. Jobs will twist the truth and distort reality in order to achieve his goals,” according to the materials released today by the FBI.
The FBI interviewed Jobs and people who knew him as part of a background check for a possible appointment by former President George H. W. Bush. Interviews were conducted with unnamed associates of Jobs to judge his character, drug use and potential prejudices, according to the file.
Several people commented “concerning past drug use on the part of Mr. Jobs,” according to the file.
Apparently this file is “decades-old” but as you can see, even the FBI and the people they interviewed observed the “reality distortion field” mentioned by Jim Balsillie. Nothing huge, just a bit I thought was humorous enough to mention. ![]()

What Would You Give Up For Your Phone? A TeleNav Infographic – iPhone vs Android vs BlackBerry
Last week TeleNav put together an interesting infographic that I just randomly came across. The results of the infographic were based on the question “Would you rather?” and involved having to decide between giving up your phone or something else. Some of the choices were between your phone and caffeine, tooth-brush, exercise and sex. Only iPhone, Android and BlackBerry smartphone users were compared and I found the results to be very interesting, even funny
. Here’s a preview:
- 33% of people are more willing to give up sex for a week than their mobile phone.
- 54% of people would be more willing to give up exercise for a week than their phone.
- 22% of people would be more willing to give up their tooth-brush for a week.
- 55% of people would be more willing to give up caffeine for a week than their phone.
- 83% of iPhone users thought other iPhone users would make the best romantic partners; 70% of Android thought as much of other Android users; Only 48% of BlackBerry users thought others who use RIM devices would make the best romantic partners

BlackBerry Knockoff Fail: HP Obama BackBerry Mobile Telephone
It’s been a while since I’ve shared a good BlackBerry knockoff. The last knockoff I mentioned was the BlockBerry 9500 back in June 2009. While browsing Failblog today I came across a new BlackBerry knockoff called the HP Obama BackBerry. It seems like knockoff makers have a thing for Barack Obama since the BlockBerry was “endorsed” by him and the BackBerry includes his name in the model name. At least I think it’s the model name. How much do you think the BackBerry goes for? I wonder if it dispenses candy like the SweetBerry. ![]()

Live Pong With The BlackBerry PlayBook Tablet Using Hardware Acceleration!
A little while ago I let you know about a few free Pong games for the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet. Games are continuously being added to App World for the PlayBook so it’s always nice when a new one comes along. I was lucky enough to catch a new version of Pong in action at a recent event where the players use a new type of game enhancement called “hardware acceleration”. The players in this game are @w4lnut and @ellebetz, both of which do their best to beat the other player. This version of Pong includes varying levels of difficulty, custom speeds, no limitations as to where the ball can go and more.

Presidential BlackBerry Falls As Secret Service Rushes To The Rescue
I haven’t posted something humorous in a while so I figured this would be a good mention. According to Daily Mail and thanks to some live photos, the Presidential or “First BlackBerry” went down but don’t worry, it’s ok! As you can see in the photo above, Barack Obama picks it up in a “no one saw that” way but apparently Secret Service (I think) did and they’re seen rushing to help Obama. The BlackBerry fell because Obama decided to run to his greeters but afterwards decided to walk the rest of the way, a smart choice.
If I were him I’d probably curse myself for dropping it like that on concrete. He should look into an OtterBox
which by the way is AWESOME on my Torch 9800. Check out the full sequence of the Presidential BlackBerry’s fall below!
Poll: What Did You Do While UberTwitter Was Blocked? If You Used Another Twitter App, Did You Switch Back?

This post is mostly meant to satisfy my curiosity on the issue. I know many of you were upset that UberTwitter got blocked and were happy when they finally came back as UberSocial, but what did you do while it was blocked? Did you decide to try another Twitter app for BlackBerry smartphones like Twitter for BlackBerry, or did you just not use Twitter? Or, if you did try another app, did you immediately switch to UberSocial and delete the other?
As @ericvice put it:
Ahhh the sound of 2.5 million copies of Twitter for Blackberry being simultaneously deleted. The bird can sing!
Kind of funny but believe it or not a lot of people were complaining about Twitter for BlackBerry. I bet Twitter wasn’t expecting such negative feedback. So back to my questions…let me know your answers in the polls below and feel free to leave a comment!
BlackBerry Virtual PlayBook On Facebook – See What Your Social Life Looked Like In 2010!

RIM just added a cool new web app to their “Tablet” tab on their Facebook page. The web app is called “Your Life On Playbook” and gathers all your Facebook profile info, updates, pictures, videos and more in 2010 and displays them in various ways including an autobiography. This Virtual PlayBook also shows you some of its capabilities with a WebKit browser preview, videos and photo album using your Facebook photos.
It was kind of weird seeing my 2010 summarized in this way but also interesting. If you want to check yours out go to apps.facebook.com/yourlifeonplaybook!
