HeyCosmo Concierge and Blaster for BlackBerry

heycosmo HeyCosmo Concierge and Blaster for BlackBerry

Here are two services that some may find very useful.

heycosmo concierge HeyCosmo Concierge and Blaster for BlackBerry

HeyCosmo Concierge is basically a hands off (yours) system that does everything for you. The example used in the article I read about it was for making dinner reservations. What HeyCosmo Concierge basically does is it will call all the restaurants in your area to see who has room for you, if the restaurant can accomodate you they press 1, if not 2 for no, etc.

Pretty handy! Especially if you have to take care of others things but definitely need dinner reservations. The whole dinner reservation thing was of course just an example. It seems to be pretty customizable.

You can also view the results of the phone calls in real time online.

heycosmo blaster HeyCosmo Concierge and Blaster for BlackBerry

The other service, HeyCosmo Blaster, is similar to HeyCosmo Concierge except it’s more for personal things, like hanging with your friends or family.

Let’s say you and your friends want to hang out. You can use this service to get ahold of all your friends and give them options (1 to hang out 2 to not hang out).

I know a bit extreme, but some people might have such a busy life that they can appreciate something like this.

For more info and to check out the other services, check out HeyCosmo.com.

Nciku – English/Chinese Dictionary on your BlackBerry

Posted by Mauricio on Sep 8, 2008 at 11:12 AM | Comments

ncikuhome Nciku English/Chinese Dictionary on your BlackBerry

Thinking of flying over to China for vacation? Don’t speak Chinese? That’s ok! Nciku is an online English-to-Chinese and Chinese-to-English dictionary.

They have a mobile site (m.nciku.com) which is a simpler version of their main website Nciku.com.

What is nciku mobile?

nciku mobile is the mobile version of nciku.com, a free online Chinese-English dictionary. It uses the same extensive database of words, idioms and examples as the parent site, and new content is uploaded daily to help you realize your language learning goals. nciku mobile is optimized for devices with small screens and low-bandwidth internet connections, and focuses on presenting the most essential content in a streamlined and simplified format.

How do I use nciku mobile?

To use nciku mobile, simply enter m.nciku.com into your mobile phone’s web browser, enter your search term – which can be English, Chinese or Pinyin – into the search box, and press ’search’.

Why doesn’t nciku mobile display properly on my phone?

If you bought your phone outside China, your phone might not support Chinese characters. You might be able to install Chinese character support by downloading a patch from your manufacturer’s website, or by visiting a service center and asking them to help you install Chinese language support. If you live in an area with a large Chinese population, you might also be able to find a shop in your local Chinatown that will install Chinese character support on your phone for a small fee.

Apart from Chinese character support, some phone models also do not support all the IPA pronunciation symbols for English words. Unfortunately we aren’t aware of any way to install IPA support onto a mobile phone, but we think that mobile nciku will be useful even without full IPA support.

What is the difference between the English and Chinese versions of nciku mobile?

In addition to the site interface language, the Chinese version of nciku mobile does not provide pinyin for dictionary definitions or examples. If you want to see pinyin for dictionary definitions and examples, please use the English version.

Check it out by going to m.nciku.com from your BlackBerry Browser.

Posted by Mauricio on Sep 3, 2008 at 4:44 PM | Comments

httpvh://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F9lE_M6qvrY

Now here is something I haven’t seen around yet. It is called Ipoki and with this application you can basically know where your friends are all the time, and your friends can know where you are all the time.

What is Ipoki?

  • Ipoki lets you share your current location with others in real-time. Also, you can see where your friends are and track them on Google Maps and Google Earth. Ipoki lets you keep track of your routes and use it to geolocate photos in flickr automatically. Invite your friends to see where you are and find and follow them across the world. Feel free to sign up. It’s free.

Do I need a GPS to use Ipoki?

  • No. You can use Ipoki just using the Web. Just sign in to update your current location in a easy way. But the most amazing feature of Ipoki is to share your location in real-time. To do that, you have to install in your mobile device the Ipoki Plugin. Go to Download page

How can I protect my privacy?

  • You have full control over your privacy settings to choose who sees where you are. You can choose between share your location with everybody, only with your friends or nobody (only you can see your location).

How much does it cost?

  • Everyone can use Ipoki for free. However, if you use the Ipoki Plugin in your mobile device, you might be charged by your service provider for the data used. Anyway, the amount of data transmitted by the plugin is very small.

How do I follow people?

  • You can start following another person by adding them as your friend. To add a friend, use Search to find your friend and click the ‘Add to friends’ link. If your friend is not yet on Ipoki, you can send them an email invitation by clicking ‘Invite your friends’.

How do I invite my friends to Ipoki?

  • You have to sign in to invite your friends. Click on ‘Invite your friends’ found on the right side of the screen. Enter the email addresses of the friends you would like to invite and they will be able to see you and share their location with you.

Pretty cool!

To download the BlackBerry plugin for Ipoki go to Ipoki.mobi from your BlackBerry Browser.
