YouTuber scott4551 uploaded a video of the BlackBerry Storm 2 doing some web browsing while connected to WiFi. Here is what scott4551 goes over in the video:

  • When the WiFi is connected the pages load very fast
  • May take a second or two to gain the address
  • Animated weather screen, pretty smooth
  • Tries to automatically view mobile versions of web pages
  • Some websites take longer to request the page but once found it loads quickly (hardware or WiFi issue?)
  • Loads images quickly
  • Scrolling is smooth and easy
  • Speed depends on the complexity of the page
  • Compared to 3G, WiFi browsing seems faster
  • Rotating (screen orientation) is very smooth

Check out the Storm 2 Archives to learn more about this device. If the mid-October launch date rumor holds, who plans on getting the Storm 2?

BlackBerry Atlas Poses For The Camera – Will It Be Another Bold?

bb1 1 BlackBerry Atlas Poses For The Camera Will It Be Another Bold?

It’s been a few months since we last heard about the BlackBerry Atlas but it’s back and already had its first photo shoot!

Salomondrin has posted up a bunch of pictures showing the Atlas at a few angles including the front, side and back, as well as side-by-side comparisons with other devices. From the back you can see the “Bold” logo. This begs the question: Will the BlackBerry Atlas be another version of the Bold?

Here are some observations made by Sal:

1) It says Bold on the back

2) Keyboard of a Javelin

3) Its NOT 3G, its just EDGE

4) Has flash in the camera

5) Has a trackpad

Sal says he’ll post more about this device soon, so for now let me know what you think about the Atlas in the comments!

Upcoming BlackBerry Devices – 16 Launching In 2010!?

Posted by Mauricio on Sep 15, 2009 at 2:01 PM | Comments

blackberry logo 300x66 Upcoming BlackBerry Devices 16 Launching In 2010!?

@Salomondrin is definitely off to a great start with his new blog, The Cool Guy Report. Today Sal shares with us some info about a few of the upcoming BlackBerry devices:

1) Blackberry Essex:

It’s a 3G/CDMA/WiFi new version of the already released Blackberry Tour. Aside from the WiFi it comes with a Trackpad and a little “extra surprise” that I bet you’ll love.

2) Blackberry 9100 A.K.A. Striker:

This one is a 3G + Trackpad blackberry pearl. Aside from those two new and nice new features, its slimmer than the upcoming 9700 (Bold 2) which will give the phone that sexier look.

3) Blackberry Curve 8530:

Just like the already released 8520, this one is just a curve, but for CDMA carriers. Expect it to be announced really soon.

In addition to the devices mentioned above, Sal claims that there is a rumor going around about RIM possibly launching a total of 16 BlackBerry devices in 2010! This is almost too much  the Onyx and Storm 2 haven’t even launched and already there are rumors of not one or two, but sixteen more BlackBerry devices.

Now for some questions:

  • Which BlackBerry will you get?
  • Will you wait for more rumors about the 16 devices rumored to be launching in 2010?
  • What features/specifications do you think upcoming BlackBerry devices will/should have?

Leave your responses in the comments!

Video: BlackBerry Bold 9700 (Onyx) WiFi vs 3G Internet Browsing Speed Comparison

@Salomondrin is on a roll with these videos!

In this video Sal does an internet browsing speed comparison between the BlackBerry Bold 9700’s WiFi and 3G capabilities.

The 9700 on the left is using AT&T 3G while the one on the right is using WiFi. At first it looked like WiFi was winning but 3G catches up and appears to have beaten it, but it was a really close race.

Watch the video and tell me which one you think won in the comments!

First Official Image Of The T-Mobile BlackBerry Bold 9700 (Onyx)

BlackBerry Onyx TMo First Official Image Of The T Mobile BlackBerry Bold 9700 (Onyx)

My buddy Al Sacco (aka @ASacco) scored the first official image of the BlackBerry Bold 9700 (aka the Onyx),  which has been confirmed as launching before the end of 2009!

Apparently this image was sent to him by T-Mobile USA PR before he agreed to any embargo, so he decided to share it with all us BlackBerry addicts. Here’s a tidbit from the message sent to Al by T-Mobile:

“The BlackBerry ‘Onyx’ sports a premium experience and design with a high-gloss black finish and leather grain detail on the back. Boasting features such as high-speed 3G Web browsing, Wi-Fi calling, visual voicemail and support for corporate and personal e-mail options, the ‘Onyx’ will satisfy all your on-the-go needs. Also the phone comes preloaded with mobile applications from BlackBerry App World, including Amazon MP3 store for quick and easy music downloads and TeleNav GPS Navigator for turn-by-turn directions.”

In addition, T-Mobile plans on releasing a white Curve 8520 next month. Not sure how many are excited about a white 8520, but I know plenty of people who are excited about the Onyx (including myself). Anyone else hear anything about any upcoming BlackBerry devices?

Kudos Al!
