A few people have mentioned problems with ÜberTwitter not updating their timeline. Version 0.78 was released this morning to fix this issue:

We have put up version 0.78 this morning which will resolve the timeline update issues that some users were seeing. In addition, this version allows the option to update your timeline when you open the application. Please download this version even if you are not seeing any issues with 0.75.

A few days ago I posted about the CropIt Beta, an application that allows crop and customize an image right on your BlackBerry. Kyle Fowler (aka ALL KAPPS Software) let me know that he has released CropIt for the BlackBerry Pearl, Curve, Bold and Storm all on OS 4.3 and higher.

Sometimes you’ll want to send a picture to someone without a BlackBerry, but they won’t be able to see it because the picture is too big. A free application was just release by Joe Ge called Resize Picture that allows you to modify the pictures you take with your BlackBerry.

Resize Picture allows you downsize a picture in order to send it out as MMS or reduce its byte size. You can choose a dimension by percent or width and height. Resize Picture also allows you to rotate a picture by 90, 180 and 270 degrees.

Just found out about a new and free application for BlackBerry called Pocket Life.

Like many social networking applications, Pocket Life allows you to get status updates and messages from your friends across all your favourite sites, like Facebook and MySpace. The difference with Pocket Life is that it is a full location based service that helps you find out which of your friends are nearby and what are the top rated bars to meet up.

My buddy Fabian Heuwieser has created yet another great and free BlackBerry application called ForceRadioOn.

When your BlackBerry’s battery is too low it will automatically shut off the radio. If you try to turn it back on it will tell you “Battery too low for radio use.” This application forces your BlackBerry radio to stay on for those times that you need to send out a text or make an emergency phone call.

Keep in mind though, that by forcing your radio to stay on your battery will continue to drain and will eventually turn off if you don’t plug it in to charge, which is why this application is ideal for use during emergency situations.

ForceRadioOn is available for all BlackBerrys on OS 4.3 and higher. You can download it now from the store and from the Mobile App Store free!

* UPDATE The developer just changed the title of the application to include “FULL VERSION FREE FOR LIMITED TIME.” I guess he’s going to add a price tag because it did better than he thought it would. *

The last Etch-A-Sketch clone I posted about was only for the BlackBerry Storm. I found another clone called SketchIt that works on any BlackBerry OS 4.3 and higher.

From the description:

Matthias let me know that he has updated his BBFileScout application to version 0.6.9 with some new features and lots of bug fixes. BBFileScout works on any BlackBerry with OS 4.3 and above.

* UPDATE ÜberTwitter Beta v2.1 is now available. Post updated below. *

ÜberTwitter announced it’s new version Beta 2.1 will be available tomorrow, May 15.

Here is a list of features and bug fixes that will be included in the update:

• Added ‘Send to UberTwitter’ item to BB OS versions below 4.6 when viewing picts/videos, allowing you to send pictures already on your device
• Support for yfrog.com images in preview/view (note there is a bug we are working on where BIS-B users can’t see yfrog images, works for Direct TCP)
• Support for mobypicture.com images in preview/view
• Merging @replies (replies and mentions) into your timeline is now optional (default off), changeable through options wizard. Note that turning this on can make you more easily hit the rate limit. In a future release we’ll allow a completely separate update schedule for @replies
• Moved @replies and Direct Messages To You menu items up towards the top for convenience
• Fixed bug when trying to follow people from any of the search timelines
• Fixed bug where device updates were set to on when you followed someone, regardless if you didn’t select that option
• Added shortcut ‘d’ to direct message someone
• Added Direct Message to menu in Friends/Followers
• Small avatars should work fine now, when you change it automatically changes your timeline, flushes cache, etc.
• Added option to NOT use BB sound/vib notifications – some models are almost impossible to figure out how to change. Note that the default setting is OFF, so if you want notifications you need to go into the options wizard and check this option.
• Avatars weren’t being scaled correctly, causing issues on some devices
• ReTweets were setting the ‘reply-to-id’, which would cause it to be treated like a reply, which did not allow some users to view the tweet
• Changed fonts on status update screen to be consistent
• When pict/vid is added to tweet, subtract correct number of characters to account for URL, making the character count more accurate
• Fixed bug where uncaught exception could occur if you clicked an ‘@user’ in another bb app and ÜberTwitter wasn’t already running
• Fixed bug where some failures to retrieve avatars could result in ’spinning arrows’ and a huge battery drain.
• Turned on an auto-refresh whenever your timeline screen is exposed, this was requested by many users!
