The BBRocks.com Mobile Site has been having some compatibility issues for a while now (through no fault of our own) but this will be fixed soon. The Mobile Site will be under construction for a bit while we work on updating the design to match the recent redesign and (hopefully) be compatible with all BlackBerry browsers once again.

The good: The Mobile Site redesign will look better than the current mobile design and it will be fully functional without any bugs. The bad: Well this isn’t really a bad thing but the Mobile Site may be a bit “plain” until everything is finished up. The good part is you won’t have a problem with having to zoom in any more while and after the redesign. Some elements of the Mobile Site may appear weird but don’t worry, that’s just us working to get it right. Also, the only way to switch to the full site from your BlackBerry will be to change your Browser Identification to something other than “BlackBerry”. This is a temporary option while we work on things, once it’s done there should be a link at the bottom to switch back and forth between the Mobile and Standard site.

I hope everyone will like it once it’s done! If anything goes wrong or if we have to change our plans I’ll post another update.

With the new BBRocks! logo and website design I’m working on rolling out the changes to our third-party website accounts and applications that use our logo. Those of you who are part of the Facebook page have already seen the changes and the @blackberryrocks Twitter page will also be getting a redesign soon. I have updated the BBRocks! Web Launcher to have the new logo and boy does it look a lot better .

The web launcher application is an icon that once accessed will open your  BlackBerry Browser and take you right to blackberryrocks.com. If your Browser Identification is set to “BlackBerry” you will see the mobile version, which will also be updated with the new logo and styling shortly. Any other Identification will show you the full site.

The BBRocks! Launcher app is available for all devices running OS 4.2 and higher and is available as a free download at bbrocks.com/launcher.

BlackBerry Rocks! has a new look and refreshed logo! For a while now I’ve been wanting to redo the website design but never had time to collaborate in order to get it done. For the past few months I’ve been working with two designers to get a new, better look for blackberryrocks.com. It’s been a very long and taxing few months but I hope very well worth it!

First I want to give a big thanks to the designers, logo by Rich Inocencio and the new layout and theme by David Haynes. Both have been extremely patient and helpful and are great listeners, getting their individual designs exactly how I wanted them to be.

Some new features at BBRocks!:

• Feeds
  • There are now multiple feed types: full rss feed and summary rss feed. Both can be reached by clicking the links in sidebar.
• Twitter Box
  • Under the sidebars you will notice a Twitter box. This box will show all @blackberryrocks, #bbhelp, #blackberryhelp and #blackberryrocks tweets and offer the option to reply, follow or view more. If you need help or want to send out a shoutout just tag your tweets with the hashtags I just mentioned!
• Comments Box
  • There is now also a comments box in the sidebar showing popular posts by comments, top comment profiles for BBRocks! and latest comments.

I am working on bringing more features to BBRocks! but I really wanted to get this out today because I wanted to give everyone something new, and it’s my birthday . This is kind of like a gift to myself and my readers.

I am constantly looking for ways to improve the browsing and searching experience of BBRocks! I’ve setup a bunch of redirections which I am using as a “URL shortener” so you (the readers) can jump to the device specific category of choice without typing out entire URLs. As some of you may have noticed, I’ve been using the bbrocks.com domain when referring people to the site. This URL redirects to blackberryrocks.com, as will these quick links I am about to show you.

Right now these redirections are only set up for the Apps & Games and Themes & Wallpapers categories just to see if you all would find it useful. Here’s how it works:

• Looking for themes or wallpapers for your new Bold 9700? Instead of using blackberryrocks.com/tag/97xx-themes-wallpapers you can now use bbrocks.com/9700themes
• How about some apps and games? Instead of using blackberryrocks.com/tag/97xx-apps-games you can now use bbrocks.com/9700apps
• If you have an 8130 just use 8100, an 8820 use 8800, etc

These redirections are setup for all BlackBerry devices ranging from the 8100 series to all the way up to the new 9700. Try it out and let me know how you like this new site feature in the comments!

If you guys find this useful I will set up redirections for as many blackberryrocks.com URLs as I can and create a page with how to use them.

The other way this post will help me is by testing the new polling system I have chosen to use, PollDaddy.
