Blurts Beta: Send Alerts From Your BlackBerry To Your PC via Bluetooth

blurts blackberry desktop screenshot Blurts Beta: Send Alerts From Your BlackBerry To Your PC via Bluetooth

MLH Software let me know about a new beta BlackBerry application and desktop software they are working on called Blurts.

If you are like us, you sit in front of a PC most of the day with a BlackBerry in your pocket. Every time it rings you have to dig it out just to see who is calling, and you think to yourself, wouldn’t it be nice if the caller ID just popped up on my computer screen so I could see who is calling before going through the trouble to dig it out of my pocket?

Well that is exactly what Blurts is designed to do. A desktop app and a BlackBerry app talk via Bluetooth to display caller ID info and more.

I’m being told that this software might be available in two versions: a free version that will allow you to view alerts and a pro version with more features that will allow you to interact with those alerts (and more).

Here is a list of devices this software is available for (OS 4.2 and higher):

  • BlackBerry Tour 9630
  • BlackBerry Bold 9000 smartphone
  • BlackBerry Storm smartphone
  • BlackBerry Pearl Flip Series
  • BlackBerry Curve 8300 Series
  • BlackBerry Curve 8900 smartphone
  • BlackBerry 8800 Series
  • BlackBerry Pearl Series

In order to use the desktop software your PC must be Bluetooth enabled whether it’s internal or through a Bluetooth dongle/adapter. If you’re interested in becoming a beta tester send an email to beta@mlhsoftware.com and check out the product page for more info.

Are you a developer looking to get your application tested? Send an email to info@blackberryrocks.com with details!

spoofapp screenshot blackberry SpoofAPP: Caller ID Spoofing Application Available For BlackBerry

SpoofAPP, a Caller ID spoofing application, is now available for BlackBerry.

SpoofAPP is a revolutionary Caller ID Spoofing, Voice Changing, and Call Recording application. With SpoofAPP you can change the Caller ID Number people see when you make calls from your phone. You get to decide what number you want displayed when you make a call. SpoofAPP is a program that transmits your call information to a Caller ID Spoofing Provider which handles the actual calling.

For anyone wondering if the use of this application is legal, yes it is, but it also depends on why/how you’re using it and what state you’re calling from/to. For more info check out the SpoofAPP FAQ.

SpoofAPP requires a SpoofCard to work, which isn’t free. Think of it as a calling card. Here is the pricing info:

  • $4.95 (25 Credits)
  • $9.95 (60 Credits)
  • $19.95 (130 Credits)
  • $39.95 (270 Credits)
  • $79.95 (560 Credits)

Credit usage is dependent on the rate for the country you are calling from. For example, the US rate is one credit per minute. You also need a data connection, WiFi does not currently work with this app.

To download SpoofAPP visit spoofcard.com/bb from your BlackBerry Browser.

If you get this app and have a funny spoof to share be sure to leave it in the comments!

BlackBerry VM-605 Bluetooth Visor Mount Speakerphone Now Shipping From The BBRocks! Store!!!

Posted by Mauricio on Aug 2, 2009 at 12:41 PM | Comments

blackberry vm 605 bluetooth premium visor BlackBerry VM 605 Bluetooth Visor Mount Speakerphone Now Shipping From The BBRocks! Store!!!

The BlackBerry Bluetooth Visor Mount Speakerphone (mouthful haha) is now available in the BBRocks! Accessory Store for $84.95 plus shipping!

I’ve been using the VM Speakerphone and I’ve got to say it is one of the best BlackBerry purchases I have made besides for the BlackBerry itself. No more CDs, no more browsing through radio stations. Since I’ve gotten it I’ve barely listened to the radio since I have 7 out of 16GB of music right on my BlackBerry. And that’s not all it does…

The BlackBerry Visor Mount Speakerphone VM-605 is a hands free Bluetooth speakerphone from RIM. Enjoy your calls and your favorite music from your BlackBerry smartphone with the convenience and sound quality of your car’s FM stereo system. It’s easy to use. Just clip it to your car’s visor, turn it on, and you’re ready to start making and taking hands free calls on the go. And because it supports voice activated dialing, caller ID, and verbal notifications to let you know who’s calling, you can stay in touch while keeping your hands on the wheel and eyes on the road.

Features:

  • Wireless transmission via Bluetooth connection
  • Driver-friendly
  • Simple operation
  • Slim, ultra-light design
  • Up to 13hrs talk time
  • Noise reduction and echo cancellation technology
  • Works with GPS Mapping Applications
  • Compatible with other Bluetooth enabled devices

One thing the store doesn’t mention is that it is rechargeable and comes with a car charger that will actually work with BlackBerry devices that have a Micro-USB plug, like the Curve 8900, Storm and Tour.

Also, if you think $84.95 is a bit much, consider that it is $99.99 if you get it directly from RIM ;-) .

The Visor Mount Speakerphone will work with any BlackBerry running OS 4.22 and higher (meaning pretty much every BlackBerry). Head on over to the store to grab yourself one while they’re available! If they’re as awesome as I believe they are I’m sure they’ll sell quickly.

Google Voice Launching Today?

screen voicemail google voice Google Voice Launching Today?

*UPDATE Invites are being sent out for those on the reservation list. Sign up now before they run out of the 1 million numbers available! *

*UPDATE The Google Voice Twitter account just tweetedInvites to people on reservations list starting to go out today.” I guess this means it won’t be available to everyone just yet. You can still sign up at voice.google.com for an invite if you’re interested. Hopefully a public launch will happen soon! *

Back in March I mentioned that GrandCentral would be returning as Google Voice with lots of cool features. I also mentioned the GVdialer application, an app that is meant to help integrate Google Voice with your BlackBerry.

Janet Shamlian of The Today Show did an overview of Google Voice and its call filtering/forwarding and voicemail transcription features. Shamlian also confirmed that Google Voice would be “available today, nationwide.”

Current Grand Central users are already able to use Google Voice. Others who are interested can sign up for an invite at voice.google.com. Of course if it does end up launching today, you won’t need to sign up.

I’ve included the Google Voice features, the video from The Today Show, and the video showing GVdialer in action after the jump. You can also find more info about Google Voice here.

Best of all, if you are a Facebook or Twitter user, PhoneFace will go online and find your friends profile picture! That’s right – you’ll get the picture they chose on their Facebook or Twitter profile right there on your Blackberry – how’s that for a conversation starter!

Premium app: GVdialer beta integrates Google Voice with your BlackBerry

Just found out about a premium app developed by Mobile Max Inc called GVdialer. I’ve been wondering if someone would create an app that would allow you to easily integrate Google Voice with your BlackBerry. For now (until others are developed), this seems like a pretty solid app.

What is GVdialer

GVdialer is a software application you install on your mobile phone. Once installed, GVdialer automatically connects your calls via Google Voice. The call receiver sees your Google Voice number and not your mobile number !

How does GVdialer work

GVdialer always runs in the background of your phone. Once you dial, GVdialer routes your call by dialing to your Google number and connecting you to the destination number.

You may decide which calls are routed by GVdialer by setting it to route international, domestic or all of your calls. You can even set GVdialer to ask you on every call.

GVdialer leverages two-stage dialing to make your calling experience easy & seamless. GVdialer does not use data connection to make calls.

Features:

  • One number – Present your Google number as your Caller ID on outgoing mobile calls. Keep your mobile number private & get people used to your Google number.
  • Simple calling – Dial directly from your phone’s contacts, speed dial, call log or keypad, and GVdialer will automatically get you connected using Google Voice. When GVdialer is installed, just dial and GVdialer takes care of the rest.
  • Cost saving – Start saving on your mobile calling costs. Set your Google Number as a favorite number on your mobile plan, and stop paying for local and national long distance calls. Take advantage of  Google’s low rates for international calls.
  • Customize GVdialer – Set GVdialer to call using Google Voice on specific types of calls. All your other calls will go directly via your mobile provider. You can choose to use GVdialer on International calls, domestic calls, or on all of your calls. You can even set GVdialer to ask you whether to use Google Voice on each & every call.
  • Privacy – Keep your mobile number hidden.  GVdialer works even if you block your caller ID on your cell phone.
  • Easy inbox access – Connect to your Google Voice web account at a click of a button Quick Voice Mail & Goog-411 access – get instant access to your voice mail-& Goog-411 service.

Price: $9.99 (introductory)  – 30 day trial available
