The BlackBerry Bold 9700 smartphone offers top-of-the-line performance, functionality and features with support for 3G HSDPA networks around the world, a next-generation (624 MHz) processor, 256 MB Flash memory, built-in GPS and Wi-Fi®, a 3.2MP camera and a sharp, dazzling display. Cutting edge engineering and premium finishes extend to the exterior of the handset as well, with a smoothly integrated touch-sensitive trackpad and a highly tactile, distinctive, fretted keyboard. The dark chrome frame and leatherette back add to the new smartphone’s sleek and elegant look, while the narrow profile, balanced weight and soft-touch sides allow it to feel incredibly comfortable in one hand.

“The BlackBerry Bold 9700 builds on the success of the original BlackBerry Bold with new, state-of-the-art features and a smaller, lighter and highly optimized design that looks, feels and performs great,” said Mike Lazaridis, President and Co-CEO, Research In Motion.

Here’s an article where a kid asks RIM’s Co-Chief Executives Jim Balsillie and Mike Lazaridis if they are planning on making a BlackBerry that is suitable for kids.

TORONTO (Reuters) – It took a child to stump the creators of the BlackBerry, one of the world’s top selling smartphones and a part of most executives’ attire.

“Are you going to make a phone more for kids so that my Mom will let me get one?” the child said from the packed audience at the annual general shareholders’ meeting at Canada’s Research in Motion on Tuesday.

That kid knows a quality smartphone when he sees one. Very good choice :-) .

rim laziridis RIM CEO hints at more touchscreen BlackBerry devices

In an interview with Laptop Magazine, RIM’s Co-CEO Mike Lazaridis hinted at the possibility of more touchscreen BlackBerrys.

Here are some highlights from the interview:

  • Despite claims that the Storm was rushed to market, Lazaridis says the Storm was thoroughly tested. At the same time, he stressed that this was RIM’s first touch product. (There have been reports that a Storm sequel will feature a new touchscreen interface and Wi-Fi, but Lazaridis wouldn’t comment on future devices.)
  • BlackBerry’s push technology is far superior to its competitors (ahem, iPhone), and its software is tailor-made for true multitasking without sacrificing battery life.
  • RIM is working to improve its browser so it can deliver the full Web experience on more devices.
  • BlackBerry App World is working to offer carrier billing, as opposed to just PayPal, but there’s no ETA.

How many of you would look forward to more touchscreen BlackBerrys?
