* UPDATE I’ve created the dedicated page. It can be viewed at blackberryrocks.com/bitly-links *

I’ve been using bit.ly for quite some time, for everything I do on the web. Bit.ly is, in my opinion, the best URL shortening site. Not to mention that there is a free application for BlackBerry called bit.lify, which I’m hoping will be updated with more features in the future.

Today I decided to go crazy with bit.ly and bit.lified all the good stuff here on BlackBerry Rocks! You will now be able to save shorter links instead of the long ones, and they are very easy to remember.

Here are some examples:

All you have to do is replace the series number with your series number. I’ve put together a list of all the available bit.ly links for my site after the jump.

I will also be making a page dedicated to listing all my bit.lified links soon. Let me know what you think!

* UPDATE Matthias has updated BBFileScout to version 1.1.0.1

Since I received user feedback that there is additionally the need for a user defined resolution setting in the new “Image Resize” function, I just have integrated this feature into BBFileScout. In the new ‘Image Option’ section you have an additional entry in the ‘target resolution’ called ‘user defined’.

If you downloaded version 1.1 please redownload BBFileScout below. *

Matthias let me know that he has updated his BBFileScout BlackBerry application from version 1.0 to version 1.1.

New functions include the ability to resize images to a user selected resolution ranging from 1200px, 1024px, 800px, 640px and the device’s resolution. There is also an option to show favorites at startup and URLs in the BBFileScout “About” screen will now bring you to the site.

BBFileScout is offered “free” as Donationware, which means the version available for download is fully functional with no limitations but the developer is asking for donations to help upkeep the development of the application. BBFileScout is available for all BlackBerrys on OS 4.3 and higher.

ubiquitous bitlify Free app: bit.lify shortens URLs from your BlackBerry Browser for a cleaner look when sending in messages!

SocialScope creators Ubiquitous Systems have created bit.lify, a new and free application that allows you to shorten URLs from your BlackBerry Browser using bit.ly.

This is an extremely useful application for shortening those ridiculously long URLs you need to send in a message. Bit.lify allows your message to look clean without the long URL clutter that can be annoying to some.
