Viigo has released a new version that I recommend everyone upgrade to. Version 3.1.489 brings with it some new features and improvements with performance, data usage, memory consumption and battery life.

The new version also allows you to see all the feeds you subscribed to across the Viigo app in the News & Module, meaning if you subscribed to a podcast in the audio section you will also see it in the News & RSS module separated with  titled heading like “Media”. If you open this feed item in the News & RSS module it will sync across your Viigo app so it shows up as read in the other modules as well.

The new version also adds some speed when it comes to accessing new and enhanced services such as the NFL, NHL and Soccer services within the Sports module.

To get the new version head to getviigo.com from your BlackBerry Browser. If you have a version installed from the BlackBerry App World you must uninstall it and reboot before installing the new version. Let me know how this version runs for you in the comments!

I’m a big time user of the Viigo BlackBerry application and it’s always one of the first apps I recommend to other BlackBerry users. Viigo comes packed with LOTS of features, but some may not use all of them and just want the basic News and RSS channels. For those who want just News and RSS, Viigo has just announced their new Viigo News version!

The Viigo News application allows you to select from hundreds of popular business, finance, sports, entertainment or headline news directly from the Channel Library, which has 13 newly organized categories to choose from. Viigo News also has an updated user-interface with new buttons across the bottom of the Channel screen.

The News version still lets you share items through email, del.icio.us, or popular social networks like Twitter and Facebook. For those that don’t have data plans there is now also a dedicated WiFi option so it only updates when you’re connected to a wireless internet source!

To download the new Viigo News version go to getviigo.com/news from your Blackberry Browser. If you’d like the original version of Viigo you can download it from getviigo.com.

Note: Before installing Viigo News you must uninstall any previous version of Viigo and do a reboot (battery pull). After that you can download Viigo News, sign in and all your feeds will re-load.

Viigo has just launched their new YouTube service where you can search through 15 categories and 9 channels of videos from 23 different countries.

To add a YouTube channel open the Entertainment module, select “Add Channel” then “YouTube”. From there you can select the region, category and channel you want to add. It is important that you make sure you have at least OS 4.3 with a data plan that can cover the extensive data usage that results from streaming videos, or just use WiFi.

Viigo has partnered up with Treedia Labs to bring tens of thousands of Podcast.com audio podcasts to BlackBerry users!

A few days ago I mentioned that Viigo was updated to v3.1.330, an update focused on fixing a number of performance issues. This update also brought with it a full Twitter client with many cool features!

Besides adding your Twitter account in the Social Networks module, you will also find that Viigo now supports other social networks including Jaiku and Identi.ca.

The Viigo Twitter client allows you to track multiple channels, including live Twitter searches, along with the ability to Reply, Direct Message, ReTweet, Mark as Favorite and Post your own Tweet. You can also click into someone’s Tweet to view that Twitter user’s information and even follow them.

Another awesome feature is the ability to Tweet your Viigo articles from within the application with just a single click!

Viigo has been updated from version 3.1.324 to version 3.1.330.

The video above goes over the new features available in Viigo since version 3.1.324 (which I mentioned last week). Version 3.1.330 is an important upgrade that is focused on fixing a number of performance issues.

Yesterday I mentioned that Viigo Alpha was updated to version 3.1.324. Well, this version was actually re-released as the new official version for BlackBerry!

Features:

• New services
• New weather (delete your weather channels and add)
• Streaming Audio
• Stay on top of your balances
• Integrated Twitter Client
• The hottest deals from your favorite retailers

If you downloaded Viigo Alpha yesterday you should re-download this version. It will be the same version number (3.1.324) but you will notice that “Alpha” has been removed from the top.

Viigo Alpha for BlackBerry has been updated to version 3.1.324.

The obvious change that I noticed is that there is now a “Deals” service where you can get the latest deals by store or by category. I’m sure there are also plenty of bug fixes in this update too.

Viigo Alpha is still in its testing stages so you may find a few bugs here and there. Since this isn’t a production release install at your own risk!

Viigo has updated their BlackBerry application from Alpha version 3.1.242 to 3.1.289.

This update includes some memory optimizations, better audio support, weather improvements and better Twitter. I’ve also gotten word that Viigo Alpha will go Beta sometime next week!

Here are the initial features I mentioned when Viigo Alpha first became available:

• New look and feel, sort of refreshed from previous versions
• Application icons and text seem more vivid
• AUDIO & MEDIA SUPPORT! And they already have a library of podcast and media feeds to choose from
• New choices in the “Options” menu which include Audio & Podcast and Pageonce (registration key required) settings
• Maximum connection size options for Audio & Media (64 , 128, 256 or 512 kb)

These features are in addition to everything that Viigo had before the Alpha release.

Viigo Alpha is still in its testing stages so you may find a few bugs here and there. Since this isn’t a production release install at your own risk! I’ve had the Alpha since it was made available and haven’t run into any problems yet.

Major League Soccer is now in its thirteenth season and Viigo has new features to help you stay current on your team’s progress.

For anyone interested in the European game all this functionality is also available for UEFA Champions League, UEFA Cup, English Premier League, Serie A and La Liga.

To add a soccer feature open Viigo > Sports> Add Sports > Soccer or European Football. Once there you can add the channels that represent the entire league.

• The MLS schedule feature presents all the upcoming games,
• Live scores unables you to follow the game as it is happening while completed game scores gives you the results from games past
• Also available is standings. This has been broken up in to Eastern standings and Western standings.
• In FIFA.com you can see the headlines that provide a run down on all the breaking stories.
• Goal.com has similarly keep you current on the world of soccer.
