RIM announced on their Inside BlackBerry blog that they’re releasing version 6.0.1 of BlackBerry Messenger today. The last update to BBM was posted in the BlackBerry Beta Zone earlier this month. Changes for today’s release of version 6.0.1.32 include:

• Explore BBM-connected Apps
• Sharing App content with your BBM Contacts is easier
• Include BBM v5.0 users in application invites
• And more!

The new version isn’t available in BlackBerry App World yet so keep refreshing if you want to get it that way. For more info and to get the latest version of BBM go to blackberry.com/bbm, which includes a direct download of 6.0.1.32 if you don’t want to wait for the App World version to refresh.

BBM 6.0.1 CHANGELOG!

Magmic yesterday updated their Backgammon King game for BlackBerry smartphones to version 2.0.3. This update includes integration with BlackBerry Messenger allowing users to play with their BBM friends. Here’s the official description from its page on App World:

Played the world over, this game of position and strategy now pits two BBM friends against each other in a live action backgammon challenge complete with in-game chat. Even if you lose the game, with a little spirited trash talk you can come out on top. Don’t forget the doubling cube for epic match games.

Getting started is simple and you can do everything from the Backgammon King menu. Share a download link, sending an invitation to play and setting up games, it’s all done in-game and it’s as easy as clicking a button.

No BBM friends able to play? No problem, you can still play a single-player game or play against on-line Magmic gamezone opponents. It’s still great fun and it’s a great way to learn the finer points of the game and hone your skills.

Backgammon King is free for a limited time so be sure to grab it in BlackBerry App World before it goes premium again! Don’t forget, to take advantage of the BBM integration you must have BBM 6 installed.

RIM today posted an updated version of BlackBerry Messenger in the BlackBerry Beta Zone. This update puts the app at version 6.0.1.15, a decent jump from BBM 6.0.0.129. If you’re currently testing out BBM Music, RIM says to stay on the latest version available in BlackBerry App World and not to update to the new beta. Here’s the release note:

In this latest upgrade, we’ve focused on fixing file and picture transfer bugs. Additionally, we’ve added subscription payment support for platform-enabled apps. We would kindly like beta testers to test this version from an end user’s perspective to make sure everything’s working fine!

BBM Integration is popping up a lot these days and that’s a very good thing for RIM and BlackBerry fans. The latest app to add BlackBerry Messenger sharing and chatting is RWC 2011, a free app for this year’s Rugby World Cup. Here’s the app’s official description:

Poynt is an app that every BlackBerry users should have not just because it’s free but because of everything it offers. One of the latest apps to integrate the BBM Social Platform is Smoothie by Tafasa. This app uses BlackBerry Messenger to help you to find new and random BBM friends or if you’re looking for a specific kind of person, you can input details for a filtered search. In order to use this app you must have the latest version of BBM 6. Features include:

Foursquare today updated their BlackBerry application to version 3.1.5. This update brings improved BBM functionality as well as incremental user interface and feature updates. If you were having problems getting BlackBerry Messenger to connect to Foursquare update your app and see if the new version works.
