Must-Try Cool BlackBerry Apps This Week

Here is a quick overview of some cool BlackBerry apps we discovered this week.

iShrink

Apparently, this is a simple app that its developer created in just one hour. It is basically a URL generator for BB 10 users. It lets you shorten URLs so that they don’t exceed the character count. This will be useful if you are trying to post a link on Twitter.

It supports servers like Google, Bitly.com and Tinyurl. All that you need to do is to download the right plugin for the server you want to use, and insert the link. The app will do the rest. This is a free download for BlackBerry 10 devices.

Pizzino

This app will allow you to make files with some multimedia content. You will be able to share them on BBM. However, the recipient should have the app installed on their device. Otherwise, they will not be able to read it. Pizzino provides 3 kinds of content - images, text and sounds. In the case of images and text, you can set a timer that will automatically destroy the content upon opening. Other supported features include password protection. You can download it for free but you will have to put up with the reminder that pops-up every time you perform an action. You can get rid of that by purchasing the app for $.99.

La Grande Boucle

This one is for the die-hard fans of Tour de France. This native app will allow you to see all 21 stages of the Tour, all 22 teams, 198 riders and their standings. You will also get live feeds from the official Tour de France website. The application has a clean interface and supports active frame. BlackBerry 10 users can download this app for $1.99.

Money Manager

As the name itself suggests Money Manager is an expense-tracking app. It can act as a part time reminder, checkbook register, and budget planner. Plenty of apps are available for managing your finances. This one cannot be considered as better than other apps, but it does get its job done. It provides interactive graphs and reports to analyze your income and expenses. It is also capable of quickly tracking your personal, business and travel expenses. You can set monthly budgets. Another cool feature is the password protection. You can purchase this app for $.99.

Search for IMDB

A version of this app is available for download in BlackBerry World and now the developer has released another version in the BlackBerry Beta Zone to test out upcoming features. Using this app you can view and search Movies, actors, celebrities, directors and trailers. You won’t be able to download this app if you don’t have a BlackBerry Beta Zone account.

Car Racer

This is a high speed racing game. It is simple but that doesn’t make it any less interesting. You can easily figure out the controls; however, you will have to make the adjustments quickly if you want to keep pace with other cars. Sounds and graphics are good. This application only supports all-touch BB 10 devices. You can download it for $.99.
