Each year, Gartner comes out with a series of reports known as Magic Quadrant reports or simply MQ’s. These MQ’s provide a qualitative insight into a specific market and the direction that the market is headed to. One such MQ has recently surfaced focusing chiefly on EMM, Enterprise Mobility Management. Primarily, this report underlines the difference in market opinion concerning BlackBerry and the practical capabilities of the company at present and in the days to come.
Gartner’s recent report officially places BlackBerry as a market leader in the “Niche” quadrant. However, they also throw in a word of caution about BlackBerry’s supposed lack of multi-platform environment support extended to enterprise mobility management. The prime reason for this opinion is the erroneous assumption that the BlackBerry platform has a very minimal market and limited productivity.
In reality, BlackBerry has evolved drastically in the past few months. Swift and decisive changes have served to completely redefine BlackBerry’s enterprise strategy. In all likelihood, Gartner MQ has not been able to keep up with the pace at which BlackBerry has been surging ahead. With a whole pile of rumors circulating regarding the company’s course of action, we deem it prudent to clarify the most absurd misconceptions you may have had about BlackBerry of late.
‘BlackBerry’s presence in the enterprise market is limited’
The truth is very far from this statement. BlackBerry is in fact the market leader when it comes to the enterprise market.
‘BlackBerry is limited only to BlackBerry devices’
With the expansion of the BES10 and BBM platforms, BlackBerry is now, truly multi-platform capable.BlackBerry now offers an unprecedented level of flexibility to enterprise level users.
‘Adoption of BlackBerry services is not widespread’
BES10 has seen a significant spike in user adoption. Over 800,000 BES10 licenses have been issued to new users, since the launch of the program. BlackBerry’s BES10 solution currently operates on over 33,000 servers across the world.
‘Others can do the same thing that BlackBerry does’
BlackBerry’s install base is currently the largest in the world. An unrivaled infrastructure coupled with the clear understanding of the users every requirement in the mainstream enterprise space. BlackBerry is very much on track to soon achieving a cash-flow positive state.
Also worth mentioning here is that a couple of companies that Gartner MQ lists as the quadrant leaders, such as Good Technology and MobileIron have been going through various financial troughs of their own.
The confidence with which BlackBerry is racing ahead comes from many valuable user’s inputs who have expressed their belief in BlackBerry’s leadership and the direction they are taking. Customers still consider BlackBerry to be the best choice when it comes to productivity and security.
It is very clear that public perception has been twisted to shadow the real facts. In reality, BlackBerry remains the one single company that is capable of supporting an entire range of mobility management requirements at an organizational level. BlackBerry caters to the needs of a wide spectrum of requirements right from the demands of highly secured enterprises to very open BYOD environments. BlackBerry’s one major selling point, or USP, is that it is available across multiple platforms.
