BlackBerry Emerges as the Industry Leader and Best Provider for Mobile Security in Government Sector

After the launch of BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 and ten smart phones, BlackBerry has managed to gain a reputation of excellent cyber security in higher data classifications and new markets across the globe.

The Federal Office for Information Security and the German Procurement Office has selected BlackBerry 10 Solution with SecuSuite as a provider for voice communications and classified data for the government of Germany. 1. Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG)

For a secure operation of products within DoD, the administrators and the users are required to use configuration guides known as STIGs. These are created by product vendors in association with the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) along the lines of a standard set of security requirements.

2. Authority to Operate (ATO)

When it comes to small deployment, products with STIGs are granted with ATOs for implementation in the DoD network. This s step basically involves further testing of products for any integration or operation issues with the DoD infrastructure.

3. Initial Operation Capability (IOC)

IOC confirms the attainment of products in initial stages by trained DoD personnel. Following this, the DoD network deploys the products for production purposes.

4. Full Operation Capability (FOC)

This is the final deployment of the products in support and operation phase. This stage decides the product acceptance, acquisition and approval in the DoD.

Considering its mobile security leadership, BlackBerry recently announced the release of an open sourced framework known as ALF that will help researchers, developers and testers conduct security testing through Fuzzing.
